The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Art 2 Art welcomes the merry month of May with back-to-back musical treats.

Produced by the Manila Broadcasting Company and hosted by Lisa Macuja, Art 2 Art is aired every Sunday, 3:30 to 4 p.m. on DZRH (666 khz on the AM band), on cable television via RHTV and online through DZRH Live Streaming at www.dzrh.com.ph.

Today, Art 2 Art welcomes Kai Honasan, an upcoming singer-songwriter-musician whose instrument of choice is the ukulele.

On May 11, it’s the turn of Triple Fret to do a mini-concert on the show. The country’s only all-female guitar trio, who will soon launch an album, has a classical-contemporary repertoire consisting of Spanish guitar pieces, tangos, jazz standards, Filipino traditional love songs and other classical numbers.

On May 18, Liza Magtoto — the playwright behind the recent theater hit Rak of Aegis, featuring songs of the rock band — shares the challenges of writing for the stage.

Finally, on May 25, British choreographer Jonathan Watkins talks about the piece he is creating specially for Ballet Manila which will be premiered in October. A former dancer with Britain’s The Royal Ballet Company, Watkins now focuses on choreography and movement direction for film, theater and TV.
