CONFIRMED: John Arcilla and Jake Macapagal are nominated in the prestigious British Independent Film Awards for Metro Manila which was directed by recent Manila visitor Sean Ellis who himself is nominated for Best Director. The movie, which  is also competing for the Best Films and Best Achievement in Production awards, is UK’s official entry in the Best Foreign Language Film category of the 2014 Oscars.

Funfare’s Big Apple correspondent Edmund Silvestre said that the list of this year’s nominees was announced last Monday in  London by Ewan McGregor, a past winner.

“Nominated for Best Supporting Actor, John will slug it out with Jeff Goldblum for Le Week-end, Eddie Marsan for Filth, and Rupert Friend and Ben Mendelsohn, both for Starred Up,” reported Edmund who quoted John as saying, “I am so delighted. I could almost cry when I heard the news. Man, you just don’t know what a happy this feeling is.”

Jake is nominated for Most Promising Newcomer along with Harley Bird for How I Live Now, Conner Chapman and Shaun Thomas for The Selfish Giant, Caity Lotz for The Machine and Chloe Pirrie for Shell.
