Patrol ng Pilipino on Erap-Lim 'duel'

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - News reporter Jeff Canoy (far left) will break down the issues surrounding the rivalry between former Pres. Joseph “Erap” Estrada and Manila Mayor Alfredo Lim who will battle for the mayoral post in the City of Manila tonight on ABS-CBN’s Patrol ng Pilipino.

The Commission on Elections has just formally opened its offices for the filing of certificate of candidacy for national and local posts. But as early as now, the rivalry between the two strong contenders for the mayoral position in the country’s capital has already earned significant news coverage.

In a separate report, Chiara Zambrano (left) will examine the group Anonymous Philippines, which hacked the websites of Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System and three other government accounts to call for the revision of the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012, which Pres. Benigno Aquino III signed into law recently. Are hackers friends or foes? With the newly-implemented Cybercrime Law, are the authorities capable of hunting them down?

Meanwhile, Patrol ng Pilipino was hailed as the Best News Magazine Program in the 34th Catholic Mass Media Awards for its documentary on the monastic life of Trappistine nuns in Polomolok, South Cotabato.

Know the stories behind the news tonight in Patrol ng Pilipino after Bandila or watch it earlier on DZMM TeleRadyo (SkyCable Channel 26) at 9:15 p.m.
