Posh Nails turns 10 with celebs in tow

The Philippine Star

Manila, Philippines -  If Posh Nails Hand and Foot Spa were to gather all of its celebrity endorsers and franchise holders, there would be a cast good enough for a must-see movie or primetime TV series or mammoth concert: Rica Peralejo, Cristine Reyes, Valerie Concepcion, Eugene Domingo, Toni Gonzaga, Rachelle Ann Go, Zoren Legaspi, Andi Eigenmann, Isabel Oli, Ara Mina and Anne Curtis, just to name a few.

Indeed, ever since Posh Nails Hand and Foot Spa creator Catherine “Cat” Ilacad set up business a decade ago, success has truly been within arm’s reach and literally at the fingertips. With 24 franchises nationwide including ones in Davao, Cebu, Batangas and Pampanga, Posh Nails is way ahead of competition and has had the biggest number of stars dipping their fingers into the brand. The stars and regular folks alike flock to Posh Nails for two main reasons: They want their nails, hands and feet to look sensational and more importantly to feel pampered.

The technicians undergo almost two months of training and take refresher courses as they go along. Cat attends international conventions annually to update herself with the latest trends and technology.

Aside from the basics (manicure and pedicure, foot and hand massages and scrubs, the eyelash and nail extensions, etc.), two of the more unique services offered in Posh Nails are the paraffin dip that is said to help alleviate arthritis; and the gel polish which lasts for two weeks and is guaranteed to not chip or peel. More, Posh Nails is the only one that offers “theme” manicures and pedicures that change every four months. Green Tea, Latte, Margarita, Tutti Fruitti, Sherbet Splash… it’s a different twist they offer from time to time that makes even long-time clients come back again and again. Posh Nails also offers cocktail drinks, coffee, tea, hot cocoa along with the themed service.

Her business savvy and people skills could be genetic. Cat, after all, is the daughter of Orly Ilacad, big boss of OctoArts Films, who helped her start the business.

As for quality control, Cat still sends “mystery shoppers” to the Posh Nails who report back to her if customers are getting their money’s worth or not. In the future, Cat looks to opening her own day spa as well as launching a Posh Nails product line. There have also been inquiries about franchising in the US, Canada and Europe.
