Tita Duran dual role in Bella Filipina

- Danny Dolor -

When the loveteam (on and offcam) of Pancho Magalona and Tita Duran, then Sampaguita Pictures contract artists, freelanced in the mid-’50s, they co-starred in Bella Filipina, directed by Gerardo de Leon and produced by People’s Pictures and released through Premiere Studios.

A love story with a twist of fantasy, Bella Filipina featured Tita in a dual role, her normal self and a white-haired woman. Either way, she was truly a Bella Filipina (Beautiful Filipina).

Bella Filipina was followed by the same year (1956) by another De Leon-directed film, Mr. and Mrs. Special added attraction was shown after the main feature, Tita and Pancho and Reycard Duet in Jam Session and Rock ’n Roll, ‘the new dance sensation.’
