The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Legit Status (photo), an eight-member group composed of the country’s finest young dancers, is set to represent the Philippines in the 2011 World Hip-Hop Dance Championships in Las Vegas on July 26 to 31.

The prestigious competition, which is now running for 10 years, is operated by the world’s foremost authority on street dance, the Hip-Hop International, which is also the creator of the hit US show America’s Best Dance Crew.

Legit Status will participate under the varsity division or dancers 18 and under. The current members of Legit Status, who were handpicked from different campus-based dance troupes, are Susan Agustin of ADMU; Derek Clutario and Mark Tabangcura of UST; Gabby Dario and Leo Segundo of UP; Justin Silva of La Salle Greenhills; and Korinne Aniban and Rammy Bitong of DLSU. Their coach is Vivi Rivera of UP’s The Crew.

Meanwhile, Legit Status holds a concert today at the Market! Market! Activity Center in Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City to raise funds for their participation in the global competition. For details, call 0917-570-9190 or visit the group’s official Facebook page.
