Worldbex: A 15-year retrospective

-

MANILA, Philippines - Design trends have come and gone in the past 15 years, but one constant factor is man’s unending quest for knowledge—specifically the kind which will benefit everyone.

The Philippine World Building and Construction Exposition or WORLDBEX has, for the past 15 years provided a valuable service to Filipinos and the Asian region with its annual construction trade show. Slated on March 17-21 at the tri venue namely World Trade Center Manila, Air-conditioned Tent and Philippine Trade Training Center. WORLDBEX will once again become an indispensable source of information, technology and ideas that would help shape futures, make design dreams a reality and move nations into the 21st century.

But before that, here’s a look at WORLDBEX and how it has evolved through the years:

Humble beginnings

WORLDBEX as we know it today started from an events management group called WORLDBEX Services International (WSI). It was created by its chairman, Joseph Ang, a seasoned trader who was into distributing imported building and construction supplies in the Philippines. WSI has since grown in scope and has gone on to mount exhibits in and out of Manila—the most notable of which is Cebu, a central trading point for Visayas and Mindanao.

Starting from an events management group called 1996 created by its chairman, Joseph Ang, a seasoned trader since 1980, WORLDBEX has since grown in scope and organizes other prestigious events. WSI has also gone on to mount notable exhibits in Cebu, a central trading point for Visayas and Mindanao. Nevertheless, the massive and comprehensive annual construction expo in Pasay remains its crowning glory, a triumphant display of excellence and leadership that continues its mission of featuring the best the world has to offer the Philippines – and vice versa.

Says Ang: “It is in WORLDBEX that many global ties have been established and various opportunities have been created for Filipino professionals. This atmosphere has always been an ideal venue for businesses of any size, where like-minded people in the industry can meet and find out the newest technologies and innovative products while expanding their network of contacts and getting invited to other trade fairs abroad.”
