PitBoard: Kia ranks 35th on Best Global Green Brands 2014

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - A world-leading brand management consultancy called Interbrand recently released its annual survey reporting the gap between global brands’ environmental performance and consumers’ perceptions of that performance.

Kia is a consistent placer on Interbrand’s Best Global Green Brands (BGGB) survey and this year, the Korean automaker giant placed 35th out of 50, a two-spot improvement from last year’s ranking. This recognition continues to reflect Kia’s efforts on developing green technologies and vehicles to minimize environmental impact.

Kia VP for Marketing Division, Byung Yun-Park, shared a few notable steps the company took in pursuit of greener technology. “Kia’s first electric vehicle, Soul EV, made a debut at the 2014 Chicago Auto Show and Optima Hybrid and Cadenza Hybrid show Kia’s growing research and development competencies. Furthermore, Kia also carried out corporate CSR activities called Green Light Project in Tanzania donating vehicles to enhance mobility in the local community.”

He added, “Kia puts continuous efforts on managing eco-friendly car life cycles, from design and production to distribution and disposal. We will continue to surprise our customers with eco-friendly vehicles and various social activities for global environmental conservation and sustainable growth.”

Road lane marking, installation of new streetlights along Star Tollway completed soon

Workers are expected to complete lane marking work and the erection of the new lamp posts on the 42-km stretch of the Star Tollway soon. These activities are part of the P2.3-billion road expansion and improvement project of Star Infrastructure Development, Inc. (SIDC), the concession company of Star Tollway. SIDC reported that the road works on the new additional lanes along the 19-kilometer Lipa-Batangas City section and the 22-km Sto. Tomas-Lipa Section are now 100 percent complete.

The new lanes are not yet open to traffic pending completion of the bridges. Meanwhile, Star Tollway motorists have been using the newly paved Sto. Tomas-Lipa toll road portion and are enjoying much-improved riding quality. Despite last month’s typhoons, SIDC is optimistic that the project completion schedule of December 2014 is achievable as the contractor is now working double-time while ensuring the safety of the motorists and workers on the roadway.
