-

MANILA, Philippines - Tuason Racing School (TRS), distinguished as the longest running and only professional racing school in the country, launched its newest breeding ground of racing champions dubbed as the TRS Cup powered by the Ford Fiesta at the Plaza of the Newport Mall of Resorts World Manila with racing enthusiasts, VIPs and celebrities in attendance.

Set to unfold on November 13 at the Batangas Racing Circuit, The TRS Cup is a grassroots circuit car program aimed to provide a cost effective entry point into circuit car racing. This one make series program has become pivotal in many Filipino racing champions’ career, giving them a chance to hone their skill before going into the National Series. The program has become a favorite training ground of racing enthusiast from Singapore, India, Guam and Malaysia. With the support of its sponsors Castrol, Bridgestone, Standard Insurance, Coke Zero, Hafele, Ford Alabang, Smart Bro, and Smart Netphone, official partners Oakley, U-boat, Rota Wheels, Hastravel, Speedlab, Starbright Bodykits, Emotion Suspension, AAP and media partners C! Magazine, Manila Bulletin, Channel V, Stoplight TV, Turbozone, and 99.5RT, TRS has subsidized costs and made the program an encouraging investment to racers.

The all-in package, which includes a brand new Ford Fiesta 1.4M/T vehicle with all the racing modifications required for safety, plus the basic running cost and consumables for three legs, adds up to just under P1 million.

Twelve drivers, including foreign entrants, have confirmed their participation in the series. They are Ross Jackes, Daisy Jackes, Yvana Carangan, Ding Dizon, Stefan Wolf, Basti Escalante, Eric Choi of Guam, Singaporean Daniel Charles, Charlie Cojuangco, Councilor Benjo Bernabe, Indian Manikandan Ramachandran and Paulo Bringas.

TRS was established in 1999, by brothers and multi-awarded racecar drivers, JP and Mike Tuason, sons of the late racing legend, Arthur Tuason. Together with their wives, Jeanette and Brenda, the Tuason brothers have organized racing career start-ups for different racing disciplines such as karting, circuit car and formula cars. The school provides an accessible entry point via their racing clinics and classes giving individuals a taste of racing without breaking the bank. After the classes, individuals can join the one make series or join the TRS Racing Team. The school also provides racing career management, which provides young up and coming potential champions holistic training, coaching and opportunities to race abroad. TRS’s vision is to make the Philippines the racing hub for the region and to make Filipino racers globally competitive.

“Next to boxing and football, we believe that racing would be the next sport that Filipinos will be well known for and excel in. Filipinos are naturally good drivers and have the innate skill to be fast, we just need to channel it in the right direction and train them on how to be globally competitive” quipped JP Tuason, founder and president of TRS.
