ACEN powers over 1,450 7-Eleven stores

MANILA, Philippines — Philippine Seven Corp. (PSC) has tapped the Zobel family’s ACEN Corp. to power the operations of over 1,450 7-Eleven stores in Luzon with 100 percent renewable energy (RE).

The power supply deal, facilitated through the government’s Retail Aggregation Program (RAP), covers 7-Eleven stores across Metro Manila, Batangas, Pangasinan, Bulacan, Cavite and Nueva Ecija.

Through its retail electricity arm ACEN RES, ACEN will aggregate the stores’ electricity demand, enabling them to meet RAP’s 500-kilowatt threshold and directly contract their power supply.

With this deal, ACEN said, 7-Eleven Philippines has become the country’s largest retail network participating in RAP, with more sites expected to switch to clean power as the convenience store chain rolls out its expansion.

“Recent global energy disruptions have highlighted the vulnerability of local businesses. By shifting to indigenous renewable sources, we are effectively shielding our operations from market volatility,” PSC chairman Jose Victor Paterno said.

PSC, the exclusive licensee of 7-Eleven in the Philippines, currently operates more than 4,500 stores nationwide and aims to reach its 5,000th store by year-end despite the ongoing global oil crisis.

“Beyond resilience, we are aligning ourselves with an increasingly eco-conscious consumer base. This transition doesn’t just green our power – it invites our customers to join us on a meaningful journey toward a sustainable future,” Paterno said.

For 2026, PSC has set aside around P5 billion to bankroll its aggressive expansion nationwide.

“We want to make the shift to renewable energy simple and accessible for businesses. Having 7-Eleven Philippines join the RAP marks an important milestone in advancing the country’s transition to a more sustainable and energy-secure future,” ACEN president and CEO Eric Francia said.

In the retail RE space, ACEN RES is the leading player, accounting for around 65 percent of the market. Its electricity supply is sourced from ACEN’s growing portfolio of solar, wind and geothermal plants across the country.
