Go Negosyo, DHL renew team-up to assist MSMEs

MANILA, Philippines — Go Negosyo has renewed its partnership with international courier DHL Express to help micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME) with their logistical needs.

In a statement yesterday, Go Negosyo said the parties signed a new memorandum of agreement (MOA) to continue working together in providing assistance to businesses in the Philippines amid the pandemic.

Present during the virtual signing were presidential adviser for entrepreneurship and Go Negosyo founder Joey Concepcion, Go Negosyo executive director Mina Akram, partnerships officer Eva Pasagui and partnerships associate Shaira Milla, as well as DHL Express Philippines vice president for emerging markets Nurhayati Abdullah, company country manager Nigel Lockett, head of commercial Eric Queppet and marketing head Althea del Barrio.

Go Negosyo and DHL Express Philippines have been partners since 2013.

Under the new MOA, the parties aim to conduct seminars for MSMEs to raise their awareness on  business operations, specifically logistics.

The parties will also help startups that want to learn how to set up their businesses, as well as established enterprises on how to have stable operations.

“There used to be an association of DHL with large enterprises, but ever since we partnered with Go Negosyo, I personally witnessed the shift toward being seen as partners of MSMEs too,” Abdullah said.

Concepcion said the pandemic has forced many entrepreneurs to shift online to continue their operations.

“We had no choice because basically businesses were closed and people had to stay home. So, you had a lot of platforms on delivery, platforms on merchandise and food. Everybody is shifting towards a digital platform,” he said.

He added that the “entire Philippine population, especially those who have the ability to understand and use these platforms are really migrating towards that.”

Topics to be covered in the seminars include cash solutions, international shipping, regulatory processes, e-commerce, and packaging.

“These topics are truly relevant for MSMEs since these are topics that they usually ask. We will certainly invite members of the Go Negosyo network to these sessions,” Akram said.
