KFC Philippines to donate vaccines to government

MANILA, Philippines — KFC Philippines has joined the GoNegosyo-initiated private-sector campaign to bring into the country ample doses of COVID-19 vaccines in support of the government’s massive inoculation program to speed up socioeconomic recovery.

KFC Philippines president Jerome Tuguin said they have purchased vaccines for their employees and for donation to the government via GoNegosyo’s “A Dose of Hope Program” and with the assistance of the Philippine Franchise Association.

“Our goal is to inoculate KFC employees across the entire chain of our integrated operations, from our farm in Bulacan all the way to our stores. This is part of our commitment to safeguard the health of our customers while ensuring a safe working environment for our employees,” Tuguin said.

As soon as the pandemic broke out, KFC Philippines implemented stricter health and safety protocols in all its stores nationwide as prescribed by the government, including the wearing of face masks and face shields, physical distancing, and frequent washing of hands among its staff.

KFC chicken is prepared in-store and pressure fried at 185 degrees centigrade to ensure food safety, freshness and quality while locking in the flavors.

KFC is also strictly implementing its contactless delivery protocol wherein its riders are mandated to place the orders at specified spots and then step back to observe social distancing and keep the customers safe as they receive their KFC favorites. There are also cashless payment options for dine-in, take-out, drive-thru and delivery channels.

“The Philippine economy has started to recover since the third quarter of 2020 with the easing of community restrictions. One way to sustain the growth of our consumption-driven economy is to boost consumer confidence further, which can be achieved through the vaccination program,” Tuguin said.

Aside from being committed to ensuring the safety of its employees and customers, KFC is also taking steps to protect the environment. As part of the green initiative, Tuguin said KFC launched its e-bike fleet for delivery, making it the first quick-service restaurant (QSR) in the country to shift to an eco-friendly mode of food delivery on a wide scale.

KFC also recently opened the business to franchisees, allowing entrepreneurs throughout the country to join the fast-growing QSR chain.
