MANILA, Philippines — PLDT has partnered with pay TV provider Cignal to deliver IPTV (internet protocol TV) service to commercial establishments, hotels, resorts and hospitals in need of premium entertainment content for customers.

In a statement yesterday, PLDT said the partnership with Cignal TV enables the availability of IPTV service to enterprise customers.

PLDT’s IPTV service allows the broadcast of Cignal TV programs through the internet, using the broadband Fibr and PLDT’s dedicated internet access service iGate.

Cignal TV, launched in 2009, is the country’s premier direct-to-home satellite provider.

It delivers premium TV content to both households and establishments nationwide using direct broadcast satellite technology.

“This collaboration with Cignal TV truly enhances our significance as a partner for businesses not just to deliver fixed and wireless services, but to become a more valuable technology solutions provider. With this added service, we are able to deliver premium entertainment and other popular shows and programs in high definition or HD over Fibr to our enterprise customers,” Eric Alberto, PLDT and Smart Communications Inc. chief revenue officer said.

Through the partnership, industries requiring fast, reliable connectivity and HD TV viewing experience for their customers can now have clear and exclusive Cignal TV channels through PLDT.

“This partnership leverages on the extensive capabilities of the PLDT Group to offer innovative combinations that provide enterprises the best solutions from both market leaders, with PLDT’s extensive Fibr coverage and Cignal TV’s premium content and leadership in the pay TV space,” Jovy Hernandez, PLDT senior vice president and head of PLDT and Smart Enterprise groups, said.

“Particularly for the hotels, resorts and the hospital segments, offering Cignal TV channels is just the starting point as we envision to put in other relevant and transformative solutions for key business ecosystems,” he added.

For her part, Cignal TV president and chief executive officer Jane Basas said the partnership is not only expected to benefit the PLDT Group’s enterprise clients, but also allow the group to provide quality content to more Filipinos.

Following the partnership with Cignal TV, PLDT is now starting to work with upcoming hotels in Metro Manila to provide IPTV solutions.
