MANILA, Philippines - Here’s good news to graduating students and other job seekers.

The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) has set a series of job fairs nationwide to in an effort to provide more employment to young graduates and other job seekers.

“The year 2015 will be a good year for job seekers to find decent and productive jobs if only they will take effort to qualify for the vacancies that abound in the market,” Labor Secretary Rosalinda Baldoz disclosed yesterday.

Baldoz noted that the DOLE is exerting full efforts this year to facilitate employment for the country’s workers.

“As we enter the last 18 months of the Aquino administration, we at the DOLE commit ourselves to more hard work of facilitating the employment of our workers through our various programs and strategies,” Baldoz noted.

According to Baldoz, DOLE will make available thousands of local and overseas employment in 113 job fairs to be mounted in the country’s different regions this year.

Baldoz said jobseekers can check the schedule of the job fairs in the DOLE’s website.

The number of job fairs to be conducted by DOLE, Baldoz said, is even expected to increase as the months unfold through the year.

Last year, DOLE initiated a total of 2,018 job fairs with at least 761,000  applicants vying for 4.6 million vacancies being offered by 31,823 registered employers.

Based on DOLE data, a total of 134,581 applicants were hired-on-the-spot (HOTS) last year.

“The number of job fairs last year is a remarkable effort from all our regional offices. We managed to gain at least 43.07-percent increase from the 1,444 job fairs conducted in 2013,” she said.

Baldoz then urged job seekers to take advantage of the job opportunities accessible at these job fairs wherein decent jobs are open to all jobseekers.

According to Baldoz, DOLE is also implementing program with the aim of shortening the time for jobseekers in looking for employment.
