Ford sales jump 40% in November

MANILA, Philippines - Retail sales of Ford Philippines rose more than 40 percent year-on-year in November driven by the strong demand for its vehicles.

In a statement yesterday, Ford said its overall retail sales reached 1,225 units in November, up from last year’s 842 units.

“The strong November performance was led by an all-time record month for the Ford Ranger pickup, with the all-new Ranger delivering retail sales of 344 units,” the company said.

The all-new Ranger which was launched in the country in July, features advanced technologies and fuel efficiency.

Ford Group Philippines president Randy Krieger said the positive response from customers for Ford vehicles including the all-new Ranger has supported the firm’s higher sales for the month.

“By offering customers the widest range of Ford vehicles ever in the Philippines, our brand is connecting with, and appealing to, a much wider variety of lives and lifestyles,” he said further.

Other Ford vehicles likewise supported the sales performance seen in November.

The all-new Ford Explorer posted its second highest monthly sales of 107  units last month, since it was launched.

The iconic Ford Mustang also continued to exceed expectations with 37 units sold in its third month of availability.

Sales of the Ford Fiesta climbed nine percent to 248 units from last year, making it still the best-selling hatchback in the small car segment.

Earlier, the company said it would be  close  down its assembly plant in Laguna this month as it ends the manufacture of the Ford Escape vehicles in the country.

Despite plans to halt local assembly operations, the firm remains committed to the country as it looks to expand its dealership network coverage.

Ford  said it plans to have dealers in a total of 35 locations across the country by the second quarter next year.
