Alden Richards and Bea Binene: Next in line

These faces may be unfamiliar  to you,but Alden Richards and Bea Binene are tipped by GMA-7 to be the next big names to hit your TV screens. Fresh from the success and the media blitz of their movie Tween Academy, they are part of a new breed of up and comers ready to take on the big league. With their movie star looks, willingness to learn, and great acting potential, get to know the big screen stars of tomorrow on The Dialogue.

YOUNG STAR: How do you feel when the camera starts rolling?

ALDEN RICHARDS: After the director shouts “Action!” and the camera starts to roll, I have this immediate feeling of tension and pressure. I always think about not committing any errors and to just accomplish whatever the director instructed me, or else “Cut!”

BEA BINENE: I’m happy, thankful, and kind of nervous. I feel blessed and grateful to God because he gave me the opportunity to be here.

What weird habit or mannerism do you have?

ALDEN: I tend to repeat things that I’ve already done knowing the results will be the same. For example, checking my car’s water supply for its radiator and refilling it with water even though only a small portion of it is drained.

BEA: I pop my fingers. 

Lights, camera, action: Alden is set to star in two films before the year ends: a horror flick called The Road, and the second installment of Panday for the filmfest in December.

Who do you follow on Twitter?

ALDEN: Family, friends, co-artists and the news.

BEA: My co-actors and some quotes that I read to set the mood for the day.

If you could have any superpower, what would it be?

ALDEN: Teleportation and telepathy. Teleportation, so that if ever I would be late for my call time I could just transport myself to the location and be there with just a blink of an eye. Telepathy, so that I could read what everybody’s thinking.

BEA: Teleportation, so that I can go to work in a snap! 

What has been the biggest adjustment for you since entering showbiz?

ALDEN: Sleep and privacy. Entering showbiz is fun, but with the advantages come the disadvantages. I rarely get proper sleep due to early call times and numerous activities from events, tapings and shootings. There’s also a lack of privacy since I’m appearing on national television, but no complaints since I enjoy what I do.

BEA: There are pros and cons when entering showbiz. You get a lot of perks, but of course, fame comes with a price and sometimes privacy is a concern.

 What’s one thing people might be surprised to know about you?

ALDEN: I like to experiment with food. Like for example, I put calamansi over spaghetti, and ketchup on pancit.

BEA: That I’m adventurous. I love sports (I compete in wushu), and I’m not afraid of heights. I also don’t eat cake, so imagine how I celebrate my birthday every year: I blow out the candles, but I don’t eat the cake.

Action-packed: Aside from the acting-bug, Bea is also keen on becoming an athlete. She currently competes in wushu, a traditional Chinese marial arts.

Where do you see yourself in five years?

ALDEN: I hope to be an award-winning actor.

BEA: Still working on television, if not as an actress, as a broadcaster or news anchor. 

What’s the best thing about being young today?

ALDEN: Exploring opportunities and doing things you’ve never done before.

BEA: I can choose to take a path that I enjoy. There’s also a certain level of convenience provided by technology nowadays that makes life more exciting.

What’s the best advice you’ve received?

ALDEN: There’s so much to consider when entering this industry but one thing that I always keep in mind is to not let anyone take advantage of you.

BEA: Keep your feet on the ground and always do your best. Follow your dreams and enjoy life! Explore, dream, discover.
