UST thumps St. Scho, tows BEST winners
MANILA, Philippines – University of Santo Tomas led the routs at the start of the 29th Women’s Basketball League organized by BEST Center and sponsored by Milo over the weekend.
The Tigresses had an easy time disposing of St. Scholastica’s College, 97-23, to lead the early winners in Group A of the premier 25-and-Under Division of this long-running grassroots development girls and women’s tournament founded by former national coach and BEST Center president Nic Jorge.
The Tigresses were joined in the winners’ column by Polytechnic University of the Philippines, which clobbered De la Salle-College of St. Benilde, 68-51; and University of Asia and the Pacific, which downed St. Paul’s University-Quezon City, 38-33.
Early winners in the 18-U Developmental Division were De la Salle-Antipolo and Colegio de Sta. Rosa-Makati in Group A; St. Scholastica’s College in Group B; Casimiro Ynares Memorial National High School in Group B; and Assumption College, St. Mary’s College and St. Theresa’s College in Group D.
In the 18-U Competitive Division, early winners were Chiang Kai Shek College and Miriam College in Group A; and De la Salle-Zobel and La Salle-Antipolo in Group B.
