Pastor gains ground in Euro NASCAR circuit

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Enzo Pastor, the first Filipino ever invited to compete in the Euro Race NASCAR Circuit, guns for fourth place overall as he tries his mettle on the fast tracks of Tours, France in the fourth leg this month.

Pastor, tied with Vincent Gonneau at fifth, is just eight points short of fourth overall and hopes to improve on his already impressive stint in his Euro Nascar racing debut when action shifts to the official oval track.

An oval track means faster speeds and greater risk on the elevated and angled road.

“It is yet another historical first for Enzo,” said his father, Philippine Formula Autosports Foundation (PFAF) president Tom Pastor. “This race in Tours makes him the first Asian to race on an overall racetrack, no small feat in the racing world, to be sure.”

Accolades kept pouring in for young Pastor, who had made significant strides against the toughest riders of Europe after only three stages of the 10-leg circuit.

Much of his success is made possible by his successful new partnership with legendary Formula-One visionary Ted Toleman. Aside from climbing the current standings, Pastor has also been invited to participate in the K & N Pro Series East by Creation Cope Racing – an honor usually reserved for only the best drivers in Euro Racecar NASCAR.

Pastor’s campaign has been fully supported by the Department of Tourism as part of its “It’s more fun in the Philippines” worldwide advertising campaign.

By February 2014, the Clark International Speedway will serve as the host of the Asian V8 Speedfest, an initiative of the Euro Race NASCAR Touring Car Development Program, which will be launched by the end of the month. The speedfest will be co-presented by Petron Corporation while Resorts World Manila will be a major sponsor.

“In preparation for the Speedfest, Euro Racecar NASCAR Touring Car CEO Jerome Galpin expects that we upgrade our racetrack facilities and safety features which should be completed as scheduled,” said the elder Pastor. “The owners of the Clark International Speedway are doing their best to get ready for the Federation Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) inspection.”
