MANILA, Philippines — Six passengers of a sunken motorized boat in Guihulngan City in Negros Oriental were rescued on Saturday, the Philippine Coast Guard reported.

The PCG said the boat was traveling from Barangay Hilaitan to Dumanjug port in Cebu when the operator accidentally damaged the hull. 

A rescue team was dispatched and assisted by the passenger vessel LCT Island III to search for the distressed boat at Tañon Strait.

According to the PCG report, the LCT Island III found the boat drifting at 1:45 p.m. The passengers were turned over to the rescue team.

After ensuring that all were in good condition, the six passengers were brought back to their families. The sunken boat was towed to Bulado port in Guihulngan.
