2 dead in Maguindanao clan war

MAGUINDANAO, Philippines — Two persons were killed and three others were wounded in a gunfight between two feuding clans in Montawal town on Tuesday.

The Bangsamoro Autonomous Region (BAR) police and the Army’s 6th Infantry Division (ID) said the clans are led by Noah Abel and Dataya Bacana, who are squabbling for ownership of parcels of land in Barangay Nabundas.

Brig. Gen. Eden Ugale, BAR police director, ordered the Maguindanao police to help disengage the feuding clans.

Maj. Gen. Juvymax Uy, 6th ID commander, said the 602nd Brigade in Carmen, North Cotabato is helping initiate backchannel talks with the warring clans.
