The art and science of Freego's jeaneology

- Margarita Buenaventura -

MANILA, Philippines - You could say that perfect pair of jeans is a lot like the perfect lover. It is comfortable, non-constricting, and stylish. It lets you do whatever you want. It makes your butt look fantastic. And above everything else, it is the exact opposite of the kind of guy that populates a Taylor Swift record.

Looking for it may prove to be perilous and futile, but your denim soulmate need not be so evasive. If you must know how so, you can just ask local “jeannovator” Freego.

With the lifestyles of the go-getter generation in mind, Freego recently unveiled its line of jeans that flawlessly encapsulates the trifecta of denim nirvana: style, fit and comfort. Their latest campaign, Freedom of Movement, is essentially built on the idea that because today’s young people are innovative and revolutionary, it’s only natural for their jeans to be the same way.

The collection’s crowning glory is arguably its Reversible Jeans series. Freego’s reversible jeans make use of lightweight but sturdy fabric, two-way buttons, and a dynamic zipper system. Perfectly marrying form and function, these jeans feature a different wash on each side and unique back pocket designs. The series also includes a set of shorts, jackets, and tops — all reversible. At this point, the only thing they can’t do is operate heavy machinery… yet.

In the grand tradition of Freego’s reputation as a denim demigod, it also introduced its Cool & Dry, Bamboo, and Organic collections. Cool & Dry makes use of breathable fabric that allows air to enter and circulate inside. Not only that, with quick-dry pieces that absorb sweat and moisture, it’s perfect for those sweaty episodes on the train going to school or when your crush borrows your pen in class.

Because looking good isn’t the only thing that matters, the Bamboo collection is made out of fiber from the resilient plant it was named after. Aside from ease of moment, Freego’s Bamboo jeans have anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties as well.

Taking cues from the growing desire to produce more ecologically conscious wares, Freego started its Organic Denim series, promoting eco-friendly fashion by making use of 100-percent organic cotton that was grown in chemical- and pesticide-free soil. Not only do they relieve the burden on your conscience, but these jeans are lightweight, too.

If only to effectively prove its mettle, Freego chose Misagh Bahadoran from Philippine Azkals and Annie Aniel of Pole Academy Philippines as its latest brand personalities.

Annie shares that her Freego jeans allow her to express her “personal version of freedom through fashion, in both aesthetic and practical terms” and displays her pole dancing skills while wearing a pair of Freego’s reversible jeans.

“Ease of movement is very important to me, whether on or off the field,” explains midfield Misagh. So with the improvements in denim technology, can we ever expect to see jeans being worn on the football pitch? “Maybe not… unless they’re by Freego!” he charmingly quips.

The search for the perfect pair of jeans may have been a serious challenge, but when you find The One, well, it doesn’t hurt to get another one. And maybe a reversible one as well, just to be on the safe side. So maybe hoarding on jeans is a little crazy. Who cares? Not every has your good taste. Then again, not every wears Freego.
