Caring for Asian skin

LIFE & STYLE - LIFE & STYLE By Millet M. Mananquil -
At last, the beauty industry has declared certain truths loud and clear. Or shall we say, bright and clear.

First of all, Caucasian women want to look darker. Asian women want to look whiter.

Secondly, Caucasian skin is different from Asian skin. Research has shown that Asian skin is more delicate and more sensitive. Asian women are more prone to hyper-pigmentation which results in unsightly and stubborn age spots and skin discoloration. The stratum corneum of most Asian skin types is significantly thinner than Caucasian skin.

Estee Lauder is one company that has developed a skincare line designed for the Asian skin. Daniel Maes, Estee Lauder’s vice president for global research and development, proudly explains: "My team has worked very hard to really understand what it is that makes Asian skin unique. Research into the differences between Asian and Caucasian skin has been one of my priority projects."

Combining breakthrough skincare whitening technologies with scientific know-how, Estee Lauder has developed Cyber White, the skincare whitening line that works faster and more efficiently.

While most skincare whiteners focus on inhibiting the enzyme Tyrosinase which leads to pigmentation, Estee Lauder neutralizes not only the effect of this enzyme, but of all mechanisms that cause hyper-pigmentation.

Estee Lauder says Cyber White works four ways to achieve a brighter, more radiant, even-toned skin.

First, it protects the skin against oxidative damage to reduce the impact of environmental stress.

Secondly, it calms the skin by minimizing irritation and strengthening the skin’s surface. When skin becomes irritated, production of melanin increases, causing dark spots on the skin.

Thirdly it prevents pigmentation with a powerful brightening technology using rice bran, red cedar bark and green tea.

Fourthly, it corrects dark spots with Melanase 2xB, Estee Lauder’s patent-pending technology that revives the skin’s natural glow.

Cyber White is non-acnegenic, and is dermatologist and ophthalmologist-tested. Cyber White is available at Estee Lauder counters at Rustan’s.
