5 young pinoys who break outdated stereotypes

MANILA, Philippines - From a 6-year-old master painter to a 9-year-old gymnastics protege, these kids will make you rethink of the things that you were doing when you were a kid.

As part of GapKids X ED girl heroes campaign, seven Filipino kids took the spotlight on Saturday in Central Square BGC to celebrate girls being their own self and to encourage girls around the world to stay true to themselves by doing the things that make them happy and by taking pride of who they are as individuals.  

Individualism and liberation that come from being your most authentic self is the thrust of the campaign.

To bring the brand's vision into reality, GaPKids has partnered with ED, Ellen Degeneres' new lifestyle brand, consists of limited edition apparel built on the brand's most loved wardrobe staples, but with an impactful twist for girls.

At a young age, these girls already exemplify the characteristics of a role model and a true hero to themselves.

Amanda Francisco

Amanda Franciso is one of GAP's Girl Heroes.

Amanda Franciso is a 6-year-old painter who has shown her unique creative side as early as 5 years old. She uses acrylic as her medium and nature as inspiration. She has already exhibited at a group show in LRI Design Plaza.

Rocio Trillo

Rocio Trillo is one of GAP's Girl Heroes.

Rocio started capturing life at a young age of 11. Rocio started modeling at a young age as well, which made her wonder what it feels like to be behind the camera instead. She thought it would be fun so she tried venturing into photography and she instantly loved it.

Mia Gosengfiao

Mia Gosengfiao is one of GAP's Girl Hero.is one of GAP's Girl Heroes.

Mia Gosengfiao is dubbed as the next Gabby Douglas. She is a 9-year-old gymnast and is a gold medalist at the 2014 Philippines Cup and Prime Cup in Singapore. According to her, she loves gymnastics because it is fun and it makes her strong.

Annyka Cayabyab

Annyka Cayabyab  is one of GAP's Girl Hero.is one of GAP's Girl Heroes.

This lovely young golfer is on the rise in the international golfing scene as she wins various tournaments around the world such as last year's Future Champions of Golf International Junior Golf Championships held in San Diego, California. According to her, golf helps her focus and build her confidence.

Martine Francisco

Martine Francisco  is one of GAP's Girl Hero.is one of GAP's Girl Heroes.

Martine is a Catcher of Asia-Pacific Team 2015, Little League Softball World Series and is also a part of the Philippine team who competed in the 2015 Asia-Pacific League Girl's Fast-Pitch Regional Tournament in Guam. According to her, she loves playing the game because her friends and parents are always there to support her.
