Environment-friendly is big in Japan
MANILA, Philippines - Filipino exporters have defied the economic challenges of the times with their resilient spirit and creative energy. In fact, they even made their country proud at the recent Interior Lifestyle Exhibition held in Tokyo, Japan.
The Philippines marked its debut in a country pavilion featuring environment-friendly products of exporters and manufacturers from the home lifestyle sector.
“The Japanese market is probably the second largest market in the world next to the United States. With their capacity for purchasing our products, we’ve realized the great potential this market has for us,” said Jean Bautista, vice president and general manager of Craftmill, Inc., exporter of gifts and tabletops.
Other exhibitors from the Philippines were Demex Rattancraft, Inc. (furniture and houseware), Diretso (furniture and houseware), Lightworks (houseware and home décor), Stanpuz Corporation (home décor), and TDE Classic Ensemble (furniture and houseware, garden accessories).
Funded by the Japan-Philippines Economic Agreement (JPEPA), the Philippine delegation was led by the Center for International Trade Expositions and Missions (CITEM), an attached agency of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI). Their participation is part of the international promotions of the home and fashion lifestyle sectors under the Manila F.A.M.E. International banner.
Aside from the country pavilion, three local companies — Alice Blue Candle (gifts/home décor), Locsin International (furniture), and S.C. Vizcarra (house ware/accessories) — were also showcased at the ASEAN Pavilion and were part of the 30 companies assisted by the ASEAN-Japan Center.
Visit Manila F.A.M.E. International on Oct. 15 to 18 at the SMX Convention Center and World Trade Center Manila to see the winning designs featured at the recent Interior Lifestyle Exhibition in Japan.
