'BluPrint' celebrates at The Podium
Some of the country’s top architects and interior designers recently gathered to celebrate the 9th anniversary of BluPrint, the country’s premier design magazine, at The Podium.
The event featured an exhibit of BluPrint’s photographic images from recent issues and marked the launch of its first Annual Visionary Competition (AVID), which aims to discover new and exciting Filipino talent in design.
Paulo Alcazaren, BluPrint editor in chief, said that there are two levels in the competition: young designers and professionals. The young designers are to be tasked to design a “party boat,” while the professionals will compete for the best “island resort airport.” Winners will be announced next year, in time for BluPrint’s 10th anniversary.
Guests gathered around the innovative black and white airport setup, which featured enlarged airplane wheels. Among them were Johnny Hubilla and wife Monette, Augusto Villalon, TOH Corporation’s Joey Yupangco and Junji Vazquez, and Garden Barn’s Mae The, Grace and Nelson Guevarra, Mailes Martinez. Also present were television personalities, photographer Wyg Tysmans, and Singapore photographers Hans Springer and Luca Tettoni.
The Podium mall manager Iñigo Bilbao and Mega Publishing Group execs led by Sari Yap, Lorraine Belmonte, Mega magazine editor in chief Carla Sibal, and Paulo Alcazaren welcomed guests.
BluPrint was launched in 1999 and has since set the standard for glossy publications covering architecture and design in the Philippines. The magazine’s target audience has grown from professional designers to a growing demographic of discerning readers interested in the latest design trends and the best modern architecture, contemporary interiors, tropical landscapes, innovative furniture, and cutting-edge graphic design.
The celebration was a joint project of BluPrint magazine and Mega Publishing Group in cooperation with Eglo, Garden Barn, APO, HCG, Blims, ONDA, Playpoint, PHil Inc., Panasonic, and San Miguel Premium Beer.
