Life is how you view it

- Kathy Moran -

I can still remember a time when the TV I watched was black and white.Jurassic. Ancient. Sooo old.

At the time, if I wanted to watch a TV show, I had to bargain with my six other siblings to change the channel and believe me, that was never easy.

Fast forward.

Last Thursday, I attended the launch of Samsung’s latest LCD TV, the series 8 Slim at Le Souffle Restaurant in The Fort. The second floor of the resto was set up like the living room or TV room in today’s modern homes.

“It is not just a TV,” said Pen Roque, Samsung worldwide chief country representative as we walked through the showcase. “It is a lifestyle, where everyone in the home gets to watch just what they want.”

The Samsung LCD Series 8 TV is really designed for the modern home era. My TV-loving friends tell me that the LCD TV is a staple in their homes. But, more than just TV watching, I am told, it is really the whole experience that comes with it that has made life more livable for couch potatoes. Chill days are cooler and cozier, and the few hours left when folks get home from work are more relaxing with the perfect entertainment system.

So what’s new with the Samsung the Series 8 Slim LCD TV?  It boasts a collection of media solutions like the Wiselink Pro, DLNA, and the built-in Content Library, to name a few.

It is amazing how the built-in Content Library provides storage for such a wide-range of entertainment resources like an art gallery and programming for games, fitness, children and other up-to-date syndicated content that can be downloaded from Samsung the website.

The Wiselink  Pro takes the plug-and-play experience to a higher level as TV watchers can load their own pictures, videos and music through a USB 2.0 connection. The DLNA enables users to simultaneously view their content on multiple DLNA-certified platforms throughout their homes via wireless connections, making for an instant multimedia network.

The showroom was also a showcase for the Samsung’s first Blu-ray home theater solution, the HT-BD2 Home Theater System.

Samsung has made sure that their home entertainment system will keep people at home longer — and make bonding more fun with the BD-P1500. Now you can expand your HD entertainment experience with Samsung’s fourth-generation BD-P1500 Blu-ray disc player. It supports full Blu-ray features, including the BD-J Java-based platform for a disc’s extensive interactive features such as picture-in-picture displays and a customizable user interface. It also has 256MB of built-in storage to store various user information and Blu-ray disc games.

Designed for those who have found more use for the TV than just watching TV programs, the BD-P1500 makes connecting to other digital peripherals through an HDMI v1.3 port easy.

I was told that the Samsung HT-BD2 Blu-ray Home Theater System is the first Blu-ray home theater solution. Users can enjoy a rich and immersive home entertainment experience with Full HD 1080p images and 7.1 channels of the highest quality HD surround sound.

With support for audio formats including Dolby Digital+, Dolby True HD and DTS Master Audio, the HT-BD2 is able to produce amazing lifelike surround sound through its seven speakers that deliver 1,100 watts.

The HT-BD2 features a number of professional audio enhancements such as the Audio Video Lip Sync technology, which ensures both video and audio are always played in harmony.

Show Me

The last showcase in the Samsung Series launch was a setup just like it would be in a home with all the newest Samsung techie equipment fully loaded and working like a super well-oiled machine.

I got a chance to take the best seat in the room — the center.  Fantastic.

Samsung’s innovative excellence and industry-leading technology brings you the highest- quality images and superlative sound, creating the most powerful home viewing experience ever made available.

“Over the years, consumers have developed sophisticated tastes, acquired exacting standards and uncompromising results when it comes to technological innovations,” said  Jay Ha, vice president, CE Division Samsung Electronics Philippines Corp. “ This is what they have come to expect from Samsung and this is what we have always delivered.”

This is exactly what Samsung aims to achieve — to make products that make TV watching an ultimate viewing experience.

It’s no longer just about watching TV, I guess.

Samsung has set its sights on bringing the future technologies  into the homes of all its consumers, now. “This is the future and we now have a glimpse of it,” quipped Ha.

The sales of Samsung through the years are a testimony to just how well the brand has been doing hereabouts. Overall sales for Samsung LCDs have been consistently among the highest in the country.

Ha surmises that this is more than just a reflection of the skill of their global marketing team, rather, it shows that the Samsung consumers have come to trust the brand because of the great TV experience they get from it.

Samsung is not one to rest on its successes. Rather, the company continues to make their consumer products better than the last one. With every rave the company gets it is challenged  to push technology further and to enrich the lives of  the consumer.

“We have one thing in mind,” added Ha. “To constantly challenge existing technologies to bring innovative solutions within the reach of the consumer.”
