15 years of 'Zee Lifestyle'

- Honey Jarque Loop -

For almost two decades several attempts have been made to capture Cebu’s splendid charms in the pages of a glossy magazine. Most have rolled quickly off-screen but one has stood the test of time, Zee Lifestyle magazine.

With perfectionist publisher Eva Gullas presiding over the affair, the 15th-anniversary celebration was grand in every aspect.

The magnificent ballroom of the Radisson Blu Hotel sparkled with 20 crystal candelabras that were embellished with dozens of red roses, a genuine labor of love by event specialists Teresin Mendezona and Pinky Chang of Pink Floral. It was the perfect setting for the strictly black-tie event.

The festivities began with Vueve Cliquot cocktails at the lobby followed by a seven-course degustation dinner masterfully created by Adria-trained chef Marco Amarone.

Over a well-thought out dining experience, the ever witty and articulate host Jude Bacalso led the auction of beautiful packages such as travel, accommodations, accessories and collector’s items whose proceeds were tagged for the laudable livelihood projects of the Fashion Council of Cebu headed by its hard-working president Philip Rodriquez.

Working hand-in-hand with Vice Mayor Joy Young and Christine Munda of the Fashion Institute of Design and Arts, the program aspires to develop and improve the lives of women by teaching them skills adoptable in the fashion industry.

A Cathay Pacific Business Class ticket paired with villa accommodations at the Crimson Resort were won by Mel Meer. Other kind hearts with generous pockets were Darren Deen and Marilou Ang, who went home with a Breitling Avenger Skyland and an Omega Speedmaster both packaged with a 10-inch Samsung tablet.

Hosts for the evening, Zee magazine managing editor Katsy Borromeo and Mia Arcenas, handled the flow of the program efficiently and towards the end of the culinary journey graciously led invitees to the next room for the much-awaited fashion show featuring the collections of Cary Santiago, Philip Rodriguez, Jun Escario, Oj Hofer, Arcy Gayatin, Jojo Romoff, Philipp Tampus and Yvonne Quisumbing presented with SM Accessories.

Lou Aldeguer, the lady behind the Loalde brand was also honored as a fashion icon for her pioneering works during the night’s festivities.  She came escorted by husband Tony and their three sons, Jay, Chris and Michael, all looking dashing in Bergamo tuxes.

The evening’s performers were percussionist Vince Lahorra and lounge singer Tria Bascon

The success of Zee comes from understanding the readers need to know a little bit about a lot of things and Zee delivers this information is an entertaining as well as relevant manner with exquisite photography.
