Fun and good buys at Zonta Alabang Christmas Carnivale

-

MANILA, Philippines - Zonta Club of Alabang will hold its Christmas Carnivale bazaar from Dec. 5 to 6 at Cuenca Community Center. It has all the trimmings of a carnival to liven up the shopping experience.

The opening will be graced by Mayor Aldrin San Pedro and Rep. Ruffy Biazon who will cut the ceremonial ribbon.

Colorful carnivale decor festoons the booth of over 200 concessionaires handpicked for their merchandise, ranging from handmade house linen and decor to exquisite jewelry, clothes and accessories, bags, houseware, one-of-a-kind gifts, yoga bags and outfits, travel accessories, makeup, baby clothes, Christmas decor, among others.

One of the activities is “My Dog’s a Star” fashion show on Dec. 5, at  2:30 p.m.  There will be clowns, jugglers and higantes to spice up the carnivale spirit.  At 4 p.m. there will be free kite-flying lessons and exhibitions.

The food center features a wide selection of food choices.  Enderun College will have a wine-tasting booth. A choir will roam around the area to serenade bazaar goers with Christmas carols. DJ jamming, fire dancing and Capoeira exhibitions  will be held in the evening.

On Sunday, Dec.6, there will be a “Fun Run and Roll” event for members of the family to enjoy.  Special attraction for children will be a petting zoo with different exotic animals, kite flying and spot performances of clowns, acrobats and higantes mingling with the crowd.   There will be a special area for kids with giant inflatables and kiddie game booths, and a photo booth with Santa.

The event also features art in the park groups who will exhibit their artworks.

“We are leaving no stone unturned to make this annual Christmas Carnivale Bazaar another benchmark event for the community and surrounding villages. Proceeds will benefit the club’s numerous outreach programs.  We worked side by side with Mayor Aldrin San Pedro during the relief efforts for Ondoy victims and we continue to help in the barangays rehabilitation work” says May May Liechstenstien.

“We have put more family-oriented entertainment: fun games, petting farm, fashionista dog events, food cooking/styling demos , DJ jamming, impersonators, bouncies,  higantes, clowns, jugglers, etc. Our aim is to bring back the small neighborhood bazaar as we remember it to be,” she adds.

Major sponsors include BMW Automation, which will have their latest models on display, and  Barangay Ayala Alabang.  Minor sponsors are Bizu, Beacon Real Estate, Endurun College, Golfers Club Inc. and Pancake House with the Philippine STAR and Philippine STAR Online as media partners.

This Christmas, the bazaar organizers have worked harder, put more effort into making the bazaar look and feel like the old fashion kind. They’ve spent more than P600,000 to improve the tents, lights, ambience and entertainment. The number of stalls were lessened in the covered court area to have a much wider isle for shoppers to walk by.

“We have actually screened concessionaires, accepting only those with merchandise that’s far from the Greenhills tiangge variety,” Liechstenstien adds.
