Southern Tagalog local execs back Bongbong-Sara tandem
MANILA, Philippines — Local leaders in Southern Tagalog have committed support to the tandem of presidential aspirant Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and vice presidential candidate Sara Duterte-Carpio.
Political kingpins in Laguna and Rizal have joined the Marcos and Duterte-Carpio sorties in the last two days and vowed to support the duo in the May 2022 elections.
In Laguna, Vice Governor Karen Agapay and Gov. Ramil Hernandez, both members of the ruling ruling Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban), welcomed the tandem dubbed “BBM-Sara UniTeam.”
“Laguna is more than elated and excited to welcome our winning team and the perfect tandem, the UniTeam of BBM-Sara,” Agapay, national president of the League of Vice Governors of the Philippines, said.
Hernndez also met with Duterte-Carpio as Agapay announced their decision to make the presidential daughter an adopted honorary daughter of Laguna.
Pakil, Laguna Mayor Vincent Soriano, also Lakas-CMD provincial chairman, assured the victory in Laguna of Marcos and Duterte-Carpio who are consistent survey frontrunners.
Soriano said Lakas-CMD is working in collaboration with PDP-Laban in the province to ensure a better Laguna.
In another rally in Calamba City on Friday, Mayor Justin Marc Chipeco declared support for Marcos and Carpio.
“We will campaign strong and hard for BBM-Sara tandem. They are the most competent and capable leaders who can fix this pandemic and other country’s woes,” said Chipeco, who is running for Congress and stalwart of the Nacionalista Party (NP) of former Senate president Manny Villar.
Chipeco, Calamba City Rep. Joaquin Chipeco Jr. and their political allies organized a rally attended by public officials and multi-sectoral groups at the Rizal Grounds in front of Calamba City Hall.
Yesterday, the tandem brought their caravan to Rizal where former Gov. Casimiro Ynares III, introduced Marcos as the “next president of the Philippines” during a jampacked rally at the Ynares Sports Center in Antipolo City.
Last week, Batangas Gov. Hermilando Mandanas, another PDP-Laban stalwart, and Quezon Gov. Danny Suarez of the Lakas-CMD, declared support for Marcos and Duterte-Carpio during the sorties in the province.
