DongYan sitcom returns; Marian Rivera-Gabby Concepcion pairing to push through
MANILA, Philippines — Marian Rivera and Gabby Concepcion are finally going to be seen on TV as leads as the stars of the fantasy-drama "My Guardian Alien."
Viewers were given a glimpse of their upcoming drama through a teaser trailer released as part of GMA-7's omnibus trailer for its 2024 shows.
Marian plays wife to Gabby Concepcion's character. They paint a picture of a happy family until Marian is shot after she witnesses a crime being committed.
Gabby and their child grieve her death but things make a surprising turn when an alien lands on earth and enters her dead body. Marian is resurrected but she appears to have gained the abilities of the alien, with her eyes shining green, much like the foreign visitor.
Marian and Gabby were supposed to star in the drama "First Yaya" in 2020. The actress had to beg off due to the lock-in set-up of the show. She had just given birth to her son, Sixto, who was then only a year old.
The role eventually went to Sanya Lopez. It was a success that churned a new season titled "First Lady" in 2022.
Apart from the upcoming fantasy show, Marian is reunited with her husband Dingdong Dantes on the second season of their sitcom “Jose and Maria’s Bonggang Villa 2.0,” which was first aired every Saturday in 2022.
Show dates for the two shows are yet to be announced.
