South Korean star Seo In-guk left a lasting impression on his Filipino fans with his irresistible charm and remarkable talent during his fan meet last Aug. 12 at the New Frontier Theater in Quezon City.

There was no doubt that In-guk’s first-ever Southeast Asian tour was off to a good start as he showed how it was to be the king of fan service and an all-around entertainer before thousands of Pinoy fans, also known as Heartriders.

Just after performing his opening song, My Love, the Hallyu actor-singer already captivated hearts with a sweet greeting, “Kumusta na kayo mga bebe ko? Na-miss niyo ba ako? Na-miss ko kayo!”

Promoted by Epic Events and hosted by Karen Borador, In-guk’s fan meet made him and his Filipino fans feel more connected with each other when he made his own version of the country’s popular dessert, Halo-halo, and played passionately the traditional game, sipa.

Not only that, he serenaded the crowd with his surprise performance of Ikaw by Yeng Constantino. Though he admitted that he had a “hard time” practicing the Original Pilipino Music (OPM) song, the audience assured him that he did a great job and commended him for his effort.

Excitement further filled the whole venue when the Korean heartthrob picked five out of 10 best-dressed fans, four of which were foreigners from Japan, Taiwan, and Korea, and only one Filipina fan. In the end, cheering Filipino fans were delighted when Seo In-guk chose the Filipina fan as the best dressed among them.

“As soon as I heard you guys — the screams and the fact that you were waiting all day long, it really cheered me up and I really am getting strength,” he said.

Aside from fun-filled activities during the fan meet, Heartriders were able to get to know more about In-guk as an artist and his plans for his acting and singing career.

The 35-year-old actor was elated to share that his next drama will be the adaptation of the webtoon Death’s Game, which will be released in December. He also promised to come back with a new album soon.

Noting his milestones as a seasoned artist, the Café Minamdang star gave credit to his supporters who continue to shower him with love and admiration.

“I do have my singing and acting skills, of course, and I may have some charming points, but I have only been able to come this far because of the fans who love me. Without the love and support of the fans, I cannot be here at this moment,” he told The STAR in a separate interview.

When asked for his advice to artists who aspire to be like him, In-guk shared that they should be willing to take risks and accept defeats to hone themselves further.

“To all the budding artists, I’d like to say that all the failures and successes are all important and precious experiences, and those failures and successes will shape you into a complete, well-rounded artist,” he said.

“Just keep focused on doing the job that you love and keep moving forward and you can become a great artist with no regrets and will continue to receive love from the fans,” In-guk added.

During his Manila fan meet, he also expressed his hopes for career longevity.

“When I first debuted, I wanted to try specific types of films and characters, but it’s been 14 years since my debut and as I continue my career, I just want to be a singer and actor for the long run and to be loved for a long time,” In-guk remarked.

Looking back at his journey, In-guk also made the fans reminisce with his nostalgic performance of All For You, one of the iconic official soundtracks (OSTs) from his hit 2012 K-drama Reply 1997.

While fans were swooning over his vocals, In-guk never failed to show his appreciation by taking gifts from the audience and capturing photos with others.

“For the first time today, we’re able to make a good memory together and I hope in the future we can make more,” he said.

It was a worthwhile experience for Filipino Heartriders, who met In-guk up close for almost three hours, a “record-breaking” event since the usual solo fan meet lasts for one to two hours only.

“Thank you for giving this memory to me and once again, I will try my best to come back, too. Maraming salamat po. Mahal ko kayo,” he promised before bidding goodbye to his fans.
