In the compressed version of Minsan Pa Nating Hagkan ang Nakaraan that was shown at the Gateway Mall Cinema in Araneta City last Friday, there was a proposal scene where Marco’s character Rod asked Cristine’s Helen to marry him.

When asked during the media conference if they already saw each other as together until the end, the actress commented, “It’s too early (to tell).”

Marco, on the other hand, just laughed and replied, “Yes, of course. I will not waste time if I don’t see that one person for the end game. I’ve been single these past few years and the press would always ask me, ‘Why are you still single? Why don’t you like to have a girlfriend?’ Because I’m waiting for the right one for me. And I think and I feel that it’s Cristine.”

The actor’s response prompted the audience to scream in kilig. They were teased and Cristine was asked if she was already wearing a ring. Marco said, “Pearls lang yan, not diamonds.”

“Hot seat ‘to. I will not say anything,” reacted Cristine.

Marco whispered to Cristine but loud enough for everyone to hear, “Just say thank you.” The latter did say “thank you” with a laugh.

The pair further made the cinemagoers gush when Marco answered, “I want (my girlfriend) to be five years older than me…I’m serious,” to a question about the age gap in a relationship. Cristine, on the other hand, replied, “(I prefer someone) younger.”

Prior to working with Cristine in Minsan Pa Nating Hagkan ang Nakaraan, Marco admitted that he was already smitten with Cristine’s acting prowess in their previous project. He recalled, “Even before in Tubig at Langis (2016), starstruck na ako sa kanya eh. We played the roles of siblings (in the drama series). But of course, when you see her act, it’s really impossible na hindi ka madala eh. Because she is really (a) great actress.

“At the same time, of course si Cesar (Montano) rin. Whenever we do scenes together, you would feel the tension. You could really feel two people competing for the attention of one woman.

“So nakakatuwa because there are so many good scenes that were not shown in the pilot (but will be presented later in the series). I’m sure yun talaga ang magpapadikit sa viewers to watch the entire series until the end.”

As per media release, Minsan Pa Nating Hagkan ang Nakaraan follows story of Helen, portrayed by Cristine, as she finds herself torn between two loves: Rod, her old flame (played by Marco), who mysteriously leaves her confused and heartbroken; and Cenon (portrayed by Cesar), an older gentleman who will make her fall in love again.

Plot twists of romance and redemption will leave viewers wondering and rooting for their favorite characters. Ultimately, they will have to decide: whose love will triumph in the end?

The series is directed by Jerome Chavez Pobocan and Claudio “Tots” Sanchez-Mariscal.

On how the latest TV5 offering will be faithful to the original movie, direk Jerome explained, “The film version was actually two hours. When I watched the film, I said, 20 years ago, ito yung mga unang kabitan movies. It’s one of the pioneer shows so somehow, (since) it’s two hours, we need to expand it because we made it into a teleserye.”

Minsan Pa Nating Hagkan ang Nakaraan is an original Carlo J. Caparas story, also written by Raquel Villavicencio and directed by Marilou Diaz-Abaya.

“I really like the material,” shared direk Jerome. “We had the chance (to do it), the creative team, nagandahan ako sa material. The material by Viva is really good and nagawan namin ng paraan to extend it to a series. Nahimay namin yung characters one by one. Just watch it. ”

“We were faithful to it as much as we can. Basta magiging faithful kami sa story. What you saw was just a part of it. But eventually, we will still follow the (original) story,” he further stressed.

(Minsan Pa Nating Hagkan ang Nakaraan will start airing come July 25. It will be shown Monday to Friday, 4:40 p.m. on TV5, with encore telecasts every day at 8 p.m. on SARI SARI Channel, available on Cignal TV, SatLite Ch. 3, and Cignal Play.)
