Why Kyline feels nervous about her new soap

Even if the tapings have already begun for her new soap Bilangin ang Bituin sa Langit, Kyline Alcantara said that the jittery feeling wouldn’t go away just yet knowing that she’s working not only with superstar Nora Aunor but director Laurice Guillen as well.

The TV adaptation of the 1989 award-winning blockbuster movie directed by Elwood Perez under Regal Films centers on three generations of women in pursuit of their dreams. Starring Nora, Mylene Dizon and Kyline, the remake premieres Feb. 24 on GMA’s Afternoon Prime block.

“My only wish is that hindi po ako masigawan ni direk Laurice because that’s what really makes me feel nervous (laughs),” said Kyline on working for the first time with the award-winning director.

She also revealed that working with Ate Guy is “so surreal” and “a dream come true.”

Bilangin ang Bituin sa Langit star Kyline Alcantara said it feels surreal to be working with direk Laurice Guillen and Nora Aunor (third and fourth from left, respectively), as well as the rest of the cast (from left) Yasser Marta, Zoren Legaspi, Isabel Rivas, Ina Feleo and Gabby Eigenmann.  Photo credits: Honey Orio-Escullar

“Honestly, when this project was brought up to me, it really felt so surreal kasi wala pong artista ang hindi nangarap na makasama si Ms. Nora Aunor and ma-i-direk ni direk Laurice. Since we are now taping, unti-unti na siyang nag-si-sink-in sa akin at duon na po dumaragdag ‘yung pressure that I should also give my best and that I should study my character really well.”

Kyline plays the role of Maggie, originally played by Nora in the movie, while the latter will play Kyline’s grandmother, Cedes, in the TV version.

The young actress said that she can never compare her performance to Ate Guy’s but she promised that she would deliver a fresh take on the character.

Kyline need not worry though as direk Laurice assured the cast that she enjoys working with them.

“I’m so happy and excited about this new soap. Matagal na akong ganito ka-excited kasi maganda ang storya, maganda ang cast,” said direk Laurice during the grand presscon last Tuesday, adding, “Alam kong magagaling sila, kaya lalo ko silang hinihingan to show something new, more than what they’ve shown before.”

Aware that there are minor changes in the story of Bilangin, direk Laurice said it was the decision of GMA’s creative team saying, “Basta ako… dumadating ‘yung script, and sometimes, you know, I attended the creative meetings and I would like to give my inputs but more or less ‘yung takbo ng storya nilahad na ng creative team.”

Meanwhile, for this soap, Kyline’s new love interest is Yasser Marta, the Fil-Portuguese Kapuso actor whom she has worked with for the first time in Kambal Karibal.

“We have become closer at pinapatawa niya ako palagi,” she said, yet adding that she still prefers to be an “independent actress” when asked if Yasser is her new loveteam partner.

“Well, I’m thankful po na binibigyan ako ng network ng ka-loveteam or support pero siguro for this show lang po, kasi mas gusto ko po na independent ako, independent actress. But I’m thankful for Yasser. Who knows kapag naging successful ‘yung loveteam namin…”

(Bilangin ang Bituin sa Langit, which will air weekdays on GMA Afternoon Prime, also stars Zoren Legaspi, Gabby Eigenmann, Ina Feleo, Divina Valencia, Candy Pangilinan and Isabel Rivas, with the special participation of Ricky Davao and Dante Rivero.)
