MANILA, Philippines — GMA Network through its regional arm, GMA Regional TV, brought some of its stars to Davao City to join in the 33rd Kadayawan Festival.

Thousands of Davaoeño Kapuso fans attended the Kapuso Fiesta Mall Show last Aug. 18 at Gaisano Grand Mall-Davao. Onanay stars Rochelle Pangilinan and Vaness del Moral brought the house down with song-and-dance performances. The millennial crowd cheered for their favorite Onanay young cast members Kate Valdez, Mikee Quintos and Enrico Cuenca who rendered pop hits and ballads. Onanay lead star Jo Berry also graced the show to thank Davaoeños for their support. “I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart, maraming salamat po sa inyong pagtangkilik at abangan nyo pa ang maraming magagandang episodes na darating.”

In the series, Jo plays the loving and kind Onay, who chooses to always look at the brighter side of things. The show is under the direction of Gina Alajar and also stars Nora Aunor, Cherie Gil, Gardo Versoza, Adrian Alandy and Wendell Ramos.

Prior to the Kapuso Fiesta, the Onanay cast visited the Matina Aplaya 75-A Gym for the Kapuso Barangayan.

Sunday morning greeted the locals and tourists with the presence of Alden Richards during the Pamulak sa Kadayawan Float Parade. Alden along with co-stars Pancho Magno, Kristoffer Martin and Dion Ignacio brought kilig on board the Victor Magtanggol float.

In an interview after the parade, Alden described his latest primetime series as a blessing. “Victor Magtanggol is a blessing, wish granted para sa akin dahil binigay sa akin ito ng GMA. Thank you to the comments that (said it has) great storytelling, beautiful effects, characterization or that the relationships of the characters are perfectly made. That makes us feel confident, that we are on the right track and we must continue doing this.”

GMA TV Davao, meanwhile, aired the 2018 Kapuso sa Kadayawan: The One Mindanao Special Live Coverage from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. The coverage was hosted by Tek Ocampo, Sarah Hilomen-Velasco, Real Sorroche and Sheillah Vergara-Rubio.

Alden thanks Davaoeño fans who support his primetime show

The fun continued on Aug. 19 at SM City Davao as The Clashers from Mindanao Lyra Micolob, Charline Fiel and Chemp Rana’s performances drew smiles from the crowd. Adding color to the celebration were the performances of The Clash judge Lani Misalucha.       

Alden’s Davaoeño fans were screaming with joy the moment the Victor Magtanggol star entered the stage. The crowd swooned when Alden sang his hit single I Will Be Here. He was also joined by Kristoffer, Dion, Pancho and Andrea Torres. Andrea, who arrived Sunday morning, delighted the crowd as she danced to In My Feelings and Boom Boom.

Before the show ended, #SpreadKindness campaign ambassador Alden and GMA Regional TV awarded Edwin Luis, 57, a certificate of appreciation and gift packs for spreading kindness through feeding programs and medicine and school supplies distribution in poor, far-flung communities in Mindanao.

Also present during the event were GMA Davao station manager Mariles Puentevella and GMA VP and head of Regional TV Oliver Amoroso. “GMA Network remains No. 1 nationwide and we owe it to our loyal Kapuso fans who continue to support us and our programs. This is why we prepared for a big celebration of this year’s Kadayawan Festival by bringing in the stars of our top-rating shows to Davao. We are also introducing our very own website, www.gmaregionaltv.com where netizens from all over the country and the world will be able to see firsthand the freshest news, events and updates about GMA Regional TV,” said Amoroso.
