From piggyback rides to long talks over coffee, this is how time has changed our relationship with our father. But they say that a father’s love is neither an anchor that holds us back nor a sail that takes us to our destination but a guiding light that shows us the way. Proving this right, Kapuso artists take pride about their dads and how they have given them the inspiration to become a better individual.

Jennylyn Mercado — “I think yung pinakamagandang trait ng dad is yung pagiging calm niya. And his patience. These are the traits that I want to emulate kasi he’s very patient and loving kahit na sobrang sama na nung kaharap niya, kahit na hinahamon na siya, talagang calm pa rin siya.”

Rhian Ramos — “My dad has a really good sense of humor. And, I like also his ability to always take risks. I think he’s very brave. I think that’s probably also something that he encourages in me.”

Janine Gutierrez — “My dad is very friendly, approachable, and very chill lang siya. If there’s one thing I want to imitate from Papa, he is very caring and down-to-earth. He’s really nice to be around kasi masaya siya kasama, masaya mag-kwento, and he makes sure that everyone’s having a good time, everyone is safe. Basta sobrang charming ng personality niya.”

Aicelle Santos — “Si daddy, he is hardworking. He’s never late. He’s a good provider. These are the traits I want to imitate when I have my own family.”

Rafael Rosell — “He is a family man. Despite his busy schedule, kahit gaano pa karami ang nasa-sacrifice niya, he will do everything for his family. And for me so far, yun yung napansin ko na deepest version ng mga magulang when it comes to unconditional love.”

Ken Chan — “He is humble and hardworking. He didn’t raise us to be materialistic, masasabi kong marunong ako humawak ng pera. And if ever I encounter problems in life, I know I can use it as shield para sa mga mas mabibigat na challenges pa na ibibigay sa akin ng buhay. That’s why I’m thankful to my Papa for teaching me this trait.”

Ivan Dorschner — “He has a lot of trivia or information that he shares to me na kahit saan siya mapunta, meron siyang sasabihin na ‘Alam niyo ba?’ He is like a walking encyclopedia because of his high IQ. He is very intelligent. I admire his drive para buuin yung family namin and yung family niyang isa. We are very close. He did not allow us to have a gap. Right now, we have a good relationship with each other.”

Addy Raj — “His patience with everything. He never loses his temper. And he knows that good things take time.”

Jak Roberto — “Our dad passed away when we were young, all I remember was how he raised us. He was a farmer and nakita ko yung pagiging hardworking niya talaga.”

Barbie Forteza — “He never loses his temper and he is very supportive. I could tell him anything and he is funny. Kaya there is no doubt that I inherit yung pagiging kalog sa kanya. If there’s a problem, hindi siya nagpa-panic agad. Instead, he will find a way to solve it.”

Gil Cuerva — “I admire my Pops’ strength of character. How he deals with situations while under a lot of adversity is something I would want to emulate. His determination, persistence, and hard work are what led him to where he is today, and it was those characteristics that made him a great father. I will forever be grateful for the time, patience and love he’s shown to me and my siblings, and most especially my mom. He worked hard to put a roof above our heads and food on our plates, and that is something I want to be able to do when I have a family of my own just like my Pops. He’s my ‘Father-Goals’.”
