James: Bimby is welcome to visit brother MJ anytime

Since the birth of his son with Michela “Mic” Cazzola on Aug. 8, brand-new father James Yap has been lacking sleep but he’s not complaining. He told Funfare that he and Mic are hands-on parents to Michael James (combination of his parents’ names), MJ for short.

“Mic and I alternate in waking up every two hours to check on MJ,” said James who has two other sons, Bimby (with ex-wife Kris Aquino) and one with his former girlfriend. “I help Mic change MJ’s diapers and assist her in breastfeeding MJ who is matakaw. Mahusay na rin akong magpa-burp. I also know how to handle (with care) MJ when we give him a bath.”

Delivered the natural way at the St. Luke’s Medical Center in Global City (a stone’s throw from where the couple lives), MJ is 80/20 Mic’s lookalike.

“Very Italian looking,” approved James, referring to Mic’s native country. “Yung ilong lang ni MJ at bibig ang nakuha sa akin.”

James recalled that Mic labored for 24 hours and he never left her side, until Mic was rushed to the delivery room.

“Even if I have practice, never kong iniwan si Mic. Doon na ako sa ospital natutulog.”

I asked James for his picture helping MJ burp, but he begged off (that’s why Funfare opted to reprint the Family 3’s first photo together at the hospital), saying that Mic is “possessive” about the baby and she doesn’t want MJ’s photo published just yet.

“She doesn’t even allow the yaya to hold the baby,” James said. “Gusto niya siya lang talaga ang mag-aalaga kay MJ who stays in our room.”

Asked if Bimby has seen his younger brother, James said not yet.

“He’s welcome to visit MJ anytime,” assured James.

Is Kris welcome, too?

“Kung gusto niya, why not? Wala namang problema dyan.”

Since MJ will be baptized (Roman Catholic, following both his parents’ religion) in December yet, James and Mic haven’t made a list of godparents.

Meanwhile, the couple is adjusting their lives to that of MJ.

“Simple lang ang routine niya,” said James. “Kain, tulog, poopoo…kain, tulog, poopoo.”

2015 Miss Global Jessica Peart on goodwill visit

Jessica Peart was here recently for a week’s goodwill visit as part of her duties as the reigning Miss Global queen. She came from Melbourne, following visits to Cambodia, India, Vietnam and the USA. It was Jessica’s second visit to the country after she was crowned in Resorts World Manila on Oct. 22, 2015.

Jessica was welcomed by Miss Global Philippines CEO Pauline Sofia Laping and founder Riza Lao Laping, 2016 Miss Global Philippines Camille Jensen Hirro, 2015 Miss Global 2015 fourth runner-up Candice Ramos, 2014 Miss Global second runner-up Catherine Almirante and Hirro’s court of honor during a press conference at the Function Hall of St. Francis and Shangri-La Place in Mandaluyong City.

Jessica officially announced that the Philippines will play host to around 50 international beauties in this year’s Miss Global pageant, expected to arrive between Sept. 9 and 12 for the coronation night at the PICC on Sept. 24 to be aired on GMA News TV on Oct. 9. 2014 Miss America Nina Davaluri will be among the judges. — Reported by Celso de Guzman Caparas
