Jessy Mendiola: I'm ready to fight for love, but...

MANILA, Philippines — "I am happy right now in terms of life, self and career," said Jessy Mendiola during the finale press conference for the ABS-CBN primetime soap opera "You're My Home" on Monday.

The 23-year-old actress said her current focus is on herself and her work, months after it was reported that she and actor JM de Guzman has broken up.

This is also after Jessy got involved in an incident with Enrique Gil en route to a show in London last September.

"Wala pa ang isip ko sa love life," Jessy said.

She also said, "Kasi ang dami kong nadiscover sa sarili ko ngayon. Like, akalain mo yung napamahal ako sa scuba diving? O kaya ang hilig-hilig ko pala sa dagat? Kaya ko pala mag-kayak mag-isa, o kaya mag-snorkeling or whatever na gusto kong gawin

"Kasi of course, when you come from that point in your life na sobrang low mo, darating yung maaapreciate mo yung unti-unti kang nakakabangon mag-isa kasi nahahanap mo yung sarili."

"And I can say, right now, I know myself more than ever," she added.

Jessy admitted last year has been "traumatic" for her, but added that "you have to move on one step at time."

"And for me, I am slowly getting there," she said, adding that work, family and friends have helped her move on.

She added: "But of course, you have to believe in yourself to love again."

Jessy spoke to members of the press to promote "You're My Home," which will air its finale next week.

In the show, Jessy plays Grace, who falls in love with Christian (played by JC De Vera), the man who got convicted for the kidnapping of her brother.

Is Jessy, like Grace, ready to fight for love.

"I am ready to fight for love. But you know, the flower doesn't go for the bee; it waits for the bee to come for it to bloom," she said.

"Kapag alam mong nagaantay ka for the right guy, mas marami kang napapansin sa sarili mo na gusto mo iimprove for that right guy," Jessy added.

"I really think there's someone meant for someone in this world."
