Do you have a Third Eye?
MANILA, Philippines - Regal Entertainment gathers together three of today’s most talented actresses, Carla Abellana, Camille Prats and Denise Laurel, in one fine, horrific vehicle, Third Eye, the company’s maiden offering for the Year of the Wooden Horse.
Set for release in theaters on Feb. 26 courtesy of the box-office tandem of mother and daughter Lily and Roselle Monteverde, Third Eye promises a spine-tingling, nerve-wracking theater experience for local moviegoers.
“After ng success ng Pagpag, gusto naming ng mas nakakatakot pang pelikula at inilagay naming ‘yon sa Third Eye, Tradisyon na kasi ng Regal na ibigay sa manonood ang gusto nila na tumitili at kinakabog ang dibdib sa simula hanggang ending ng movie. Modesty aside, matitikman nila ’yan sa Third Eye. Ako na sanay na sa horror movies, natakot pa, ganyan din ang mararamdam nila once panoorin nila ang movie,†said Mother Lily.
Third Eye tells of a girl named Mylene (Carla) who goes through a traumatic childhood because of the so-called “third eye.â€
Her grandmother (Boots Anson-Roa) pities the young Mylene so much that she decides to have the “third eye†closed. But she warns Mylene that it can reopen, if and when her willpower is weak. Ejay Falcon portrays Carla’s philandering husband in the film who carries an affair with another woman (Denise), whom he gets pregnant.
Jealousy and insecurity prompt Carla to confront her husband and his mistress, unaware of the fact that the same confrontation would result to an even tougher challenge: That of meeting husband and wife Alex Medina and Camille, who are thirsting for human life and blood.
Carla, Camille and Denise admit shooting Third Eye gave them goosebumps on the set. “I did an episode for Shake, Rattle & Roll, and I got scared as well. I never expected I’d feel nervous doing my scenes. The location had an eerie feeling, and my screams were for real. It wasn’t just acting,†said Carla.
Moviegoers will also see a different Camille in the movie.
“Challenge sa akin ’yung role ko because people saw me in drama. Stop muna ako sa iyakan at pagpapaiyak. Tatakutin ko naman sila sa movie,†Camille related with a laugh.
Denise, meanwhile, is still provocative onscreen only this time, she is challenged by the terror that her character encounters in the film.
“I enjoyed doing the film. Ang sarap palang gumawa ng horror movie. It’s a thrilling experience I would never forget. Inatake rin ako ng takot while shooting the film. Nilakasan ko na lang ang loob ko sa bawat eksena. Tiniis ko ang takot ko. I don’t want to embarrass myself in front of my co-stars, especially Carla,†Denise said, laughing.
Brace yourselves for the gripping mystery that shrouds Regal’s newest offering, Third Eye, under the direction of Aloy Adlawan.
