Melai admits pregnancy, reveals marriage plans with Jason

MANILA, Philippines - “Positive na positive. Two lines.”

Thus said Melai Cantiveros when asked if she is pregnant in a taped interview with ABS-CBN’s showbiz talk show “The Buzz” aired Sunday, September 8.

The Kapamilya actress added that she and fellow Kapamilya artist Jason Francisco, the father of her child, are happy with this development in their relationship.

“Sobrang pagka-happy nung nalaman ko talaga. Hindi talaga ako kinabahan kasi gusto namin talaga ni Jason. Sinasabi lang namin na (hindi). Pero nung nagbalikan kasi kami, parang gusto na namin i-level up yung aming relationship,” Melai explained.

It was TV host-movie scribe Ogie Diaz who first reported about the Kapamilya actress’ pregnancy last week via his official Twitter account.

The two broke up last year but became a couple again April of this year.

In his tweets, Diaz said Melai and Jason’s baby was “made in Singapore” while taping for an episode of the morning show “Kris TV,” where the two are frequent guest co-hosts. However, Jason said it’s a “Philippines baby.”

“Kasi nung time na yan, parang inisip namin na parang gusto na,” Jason shared.

Melai further revealed that they plan to get married as soon as everything has settled down. The comedienne shared how Jason proposed to her.

“Pagtingin ko sa salamin doon sa CR, may nakalagay, ‘I love you. Will you marry me? You are my dream.’ Binigay niya sa akin yung kahon ng singsing, tapos walang singsing. Sabi niya, ‘Iyan na lang muna kasi wala tayong pera.’ Pero maya-maya kinuha niya at sinuot niya sa akin. Umiyak siya, doon ako na-touch," she said.

“Hindi na rin ako nagseselos. Confident ako na sobrang love niya ako,” Melai said of her current relationship with Jason.

“Maipapangako ko sa iyo na hindi ako magkaka-second wife. Kailangan lang lambingin mo rin ako kapag parang nauumay na ako sa iyo. Sinasabi ko sa kanya mag-trust ka sa akin,” Jason said.

Melai and Jason entered showbiz via the ABS-CBN reality show “Pinoy Big Brother,” where they met and immediately became a couple.
