Film exhibitors at Solar-UIP Awards

MANILA, Philippines - The country’s top film exhibitors (theater owners) enjoyed a night of celebration at the recent 2009 Solar-UIP Awards, also known as the Third Annual Sunnies. The SM Cinema and SM Supermall groups were the evening’s biggest winners, taking home several awards including Exhibitor of the Year, and SM Mall of Asia and SM IMAX Mall of Asia’s Special Recognition Award for Box-Office and Admissions Achievements during Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, the Philippine’s biggest film of 2009. Solar Entertainment is the Philippine distributor of UIP films since 2004’s hit Shrek 2. The 2009 Sunny Awards were held recently at Chef J Gamboa’s Azu Thai Restaurant in Makati City.
