Panasonic’s GD 75: True to form

-
Still remember how your first cellular phone looked like? It could be one of these four things: it could be a semblance of a two-way radio system, an ice shredder, a TV remote control, or a cordless phone. They were big, heavy, bulky and practically monochromatic – bet you even thought of using it for defense as if it was a deadly weapon.

Indeed, a lot has changed in the way mobile phones looked like since they first hit the stores and became a popular commodity. Despite their hefty shape, size and weight, cell phones have become a trend in the last couple of years, especially to those who wanted to stay in contact anytime, anywhere.

If it was such a big hit then, imagine the demand now that phones have become smaller and lighter with a gamut of features that are sure to fit any kind of lifestyle. Might as well start thinking the unimaginable.

What’s noticeable in today’s mobile phones is that manufacturers seem to be gearing up their phones toward a common form, the most obvious being small, light, sleek, compact, preferably antenna-less, easy to use, oozing with features, colorful, hip and trendy.

For a little variation but still keeping its compact feature, a clamshell type of mobile phones is also in trend. Miss one spot and the shelf life of that phone could go from long life to non-existent.

It may not be easy to join a bandwagon every mobile phone manufacturer is on, but it doesn’t hurt to kowtow with what’s hot and in demand either. It’s just a matter of coming up with at least one major "X" factor that could take it far above the rest.

Panasonic’s latest mobile phone, the GD 75, is one of the new cellular phones that display the form dictated both aesthetically and technically by the current trend. However, the GD 75 possesses features that certainly set it apart from the usual enchilada of cellular phones.

Weighing only 88 grams and a mere 106 mm tall, the slim and stylish GD 75 features an antenna – a Panasonic first – tucked inside a compact silver or black casing that is sure to catch the sophisticated and aesthetic eye.

But there’s more to this small, sexy gadget than meets the eye. Like all models, the GD 75 still boasts of Panasonic’s innovative and leading-edge technology that’s not just essential for people who are busy and highly mobile, but also for those who simply want to have fun with their phones.

Be it for a serious businessman or a happy-go-lucky yuppie, users of the GD 75 can still take advantage of Panasonic’s innovations, including the Graphic User Interface (GUI) feature that allows them to access all phone functions with its five directional joystick and user-friendly, simple-to-follow screen icons.

For people who are always on the go, the GD 75 has a WAP 1.2.1 browser that enables the user to surf the Internet. Its internal modem also gives businessmen easy access to corporate servers or the Internet via a laptop.

The GD 75 also has a Personal Information Management (PIM) system that highlights useful functions such as an Auto World Clock, Alarm, Calendar, Reminder, Calculator and Currency Converter.
