HP Indigo introduces expanded portfolio

- Dandi Galvez -

HP recently introduced its most significant line-up of new HP Indigo solutions to the commercial and industrial print markets in the country. They include the new 7000, W7200 and WS6000 Indigo model digital presses that offer significantly higher breakeven points with analog printing for higher-volume usage.

The presses, along with backward compatible enhancements to the best-selling HP Indigo press 5500 and the new comprehensive HP SmartStream workflow portfolio, create an increased range of productive and profitable digital printing opportunities for HP Indigo customers, incorporating eco-friendly breakthroughs throughout.

The new generation of HP Indigo digital presses offers industry-leading image quality for both static and variable jobs.

“Printing is a huge industry in the world. Most people don’t know that the value of printing in the world is over $800 billion,” said Alon Bar-Shany, vice president and general manager of HP’s Indigo division, in a recent press conference.

“And at the end of the day, printing is all about sending your message and communicating. In this context, HP is not just the world’s largest printing company, it’s also the world’s largest IT company,” Bar-Shany added.

The expanded portfolio of HP Indigo presses further enhances the company’s offerings in key production print markets such as general commercial printing, direct marketing, books on demand, photo merchandise, and labels and packaging.

The lineup of HP Indigo presses, together with the HP SmartStream workflow, creates superior end-to-end solutions to capture these market opportunities.

Bar-Shany said, “To drive digital printing, it’s not enough to have a printing press, you also have to have the whole workflow, which enables either the end-consumer or enterprise to create digital content and then distribute it through the Internet and print very quickly and efficiently. And with the rise of digital printing, we have whole new models of how things are done.”

HP Indigo presses offer printing in up to seven colors, with offset- and photo-quality on a choice of over 1,300 off-the-shelf certified substrates. This enables a wide variety of high-value, high-quality print applications that leads print buyers to specify “Print it on an Indigo.”

The new HP Indigo solutions will continue to drive the transition to digital printing. The lineup includes:

• HP Indigo 7000 digital press — A breakthrough cost of ownership and flexibility for high-volume digital printing enhancements to the HP Indigo press 5500 offers increased productivity, automation and application range for new and existing customers;

• HP Indigo W7200 digital press — A continuous feed duplex press for very high volume production line printing of books, direct-mail and trans-promotional applications;

• HP Indigo WS6000 digital press — a Web-fed labels and packaging press with double the productivity of current offerings; and

• HP SmartStream — Leveraging a graphic arts portfolio of workflow components to help HP Indigo customers create digital printing production solutions with a broad range of market segments and application needs.

With an installed base approaching 5,000 presses, HP’s Indigo division has an established track record of innovations driving customer success.

The HP Indigo 7000, W7200, and WS6000 join the successful HP Indigo line of presses, which includes the W3250, 3500, 5500, and WS4500.
