‘Miracle water’ solves kid’s eczema problem

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Do you believe in miracles? At only seven years old, Denise Flores certainly does. She’s what you can call a believer in “miracle water.”

All her life, Denise has been living with atopic dermatitis or eczema, a skin disorder seen mostly in infants, but can stay with patients through adolescence or even adulthood. It is a condition where the skin needs proper hydration due to severe dryness. It can result in inflamed, itchy skin that leads to scratching and, in turn, red and flaky.

In search of the right treatment, Denise, accepted an invitation from leading dermo-cosmetic brand Avène to its Hydrotherapy Center in France. She was in for a three-week treatment regimen at the center where she was administered Avène products developed over 300 years for atopic dermatitis or eczema and other skin conditions.

Atopic dermatitis usually appears in infants and children — adversely affecting their daily lives as they react easily and abnormally to irritants, environmental allergens, and even food. Anyone suffering from it is more prone to bacteria-caused surface infections.

Avène Laboratories’ complete treatment line offers products that are soap-free, fragrance-free, paraban-free, hypoallergenic, and non-comedogenic, thus resulting in the least amount of side effects compared to other prescription medicine.

Denise was provided Eau Thermale Avène, the company’s famous thermal spring water, for her daily baths and hydrotherapy massages. The thermal spring water is the key element for both Trixéra and Cicalfate, two creams that were part of Denise’s treatment.

Eau Thermale Avène is made available by the French company through a water spray. With medically proven healing properties backed up by more than 300 clinical studies, it is used to remedy sunburn, diaper rash, skin damage, and redness.

The thermal spring water also promotes continuous hydration after sports activities, and aids in healing after hair removal and even surgery. The spray has been proven to treat, heal and repair skin of different sensitivities and can be used any time of the day.

For her extremely dry skin, Denise was given Trixéra. The cream nourishes and restores moisture and ph balance of hypersensitive skin by strengthening its barrier. Its epidermomimetic trio of ceramides, sterols, and essential fatty acids works with Selectiose, a patented ingredient that reduces the skin’s hypersensitivity and controls its inflammation.

Avène’s Thermal spring water is also present in the product, helping solve redness and irritation while leaving the skin smooth and soft. Its glycocol content relieved Denise of her itching discomfort.

At the initial phase of Denise’s treatment, she was given what has been hailed as a “miracle cream” in other countries, Avène’s Cicalfate. The cream helped speed up the healing of her skin wounds and irritations and may also be applied after surgery or to non-oozing wounds or skin injury such as cuts, burns, scrapes in both children and adults.

The technologically advanced restorative cream combines a patented copper-zinc compound (that limits the risk of microbial proliferation and keeps the erosive area healthy) with Sucralfate, a protective film that heals wounds faster. Avène Thermal Spring water makes up 79 percent of the solution.

After the three-week treatment, Denise’s atopic dermatitis was completely healed and she is now a complete believer of the “miracle water” that made it all possible.

Avène products are exclusively distributed by Karihome Inc. and are available at selected Mercury Drug. Learn more about Avène through Facebook.com/Avène Philippines and on Twitter.com/AvenePH. Trixera and Cicalfate are only prescribed and available in dermatology clinics.
