Isuzu PH breaches 200,000-sales mark

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines – Isuzu Philippines Corporation (IPC) has achieved a monumental feat in the automotive industry as it breached the 200,000-unit sales threshhold last October after more than 18 years in the market.

Since its establishment in 1996, the local assembler for the Japanese car brand has sold a total of 201,777 units as of October 2015, with the ever-reliable Isuzu Crosswind leading the achievement.

Introduced in the market in 2001, the Isuzu Crosswind has been a constant mover in the market. Some 13 years after being introduced up to October this year, it has already sold 85,308 units across all variants. In its first year in the market alone, it has already sold a total of 5,423 units. The biggest year for the well-loved Crosswind was 2003, when IPC rolled out 8,901 units.

IPC’s second bestselling vehicle is the D-Max pickup, delivering 29,115 units after being launched in the Philippine market in 2003, with sales continuing to grow.

The third bestselling model for IPC are the N-Series light-duty trucks, selling 22,170 units, with its biggest sales tally in 2014 with 2,358 units rolled out. The Isuzu Hilander, the Crosswind’s predecessor, placed fourth in IPC’s success chart despite being available in the Philippines for only five years starting 1997; the Hilander sold 17,434 units.

Meanwhile, the Isuzu mu-X–after being launched late last year, is starting to create waves in the local automotive scene after it has reached the 10,000-unit mark in October. Launched in September last year, the mu-X replaced the equally-loved Isuzu Alterra and easily became one of the prime movers for IPC’s sales for this year.

IPC president Hajime Koso expressed his sincerest gratitude for the continued trust and confidence of the Filipinos on their brand. He said that the Filipino’s core values are similar to that of their company. “Hard work, dedication, diligence—These best describes the Filipinos. These same set of values is what makes Isuzu successful in this country,” he said.

“In behalf of Isuzu Japan and Isuzu Philippines, we thank you for the full support and faith in us. Rest assured that we will continue to innovate and strive to give Filipinos the best of what we can. Thank you for being our constant reliable partner,” Koso added.
