TMP Tech’s pioneer graduates to join Toyota’s after-sales workforce

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Toyota Motor Philippines School of Technology (TMP Tech) held recently its first commencement exercises with 110 students graduating from their 2-year Toyota General Job Automotive Servicing Course. These graduates will join the local and overseas Toyota workforce.

When it started operations in 2013, TMP Tech geared towards nation-building by providing its students, who come from different regions of the country, with world-class technical education. The school aimed at developing highly trainable and capable Filipino youth to ensure a stable pipeline of automotive professionals to serve the increasing demand for after-sales service manpower. TMP Tech’s mission, likewise, strategically fits the industry’s need for a significant training hub in the Asia-Pacific region to harness human resource potentials.

As TMP president Michinobu Sugata shared during the ceremony, “Through TMP Tech, we shall leverage our technical, financial and human resources in order to catalyze national development. This first batch of graduates shall pave the way for future generations of Filipino Toyota professionals who shall complement and support the growing Philippine automotive industry by helping to level up the quality of Toyota’s after-sales service.”

After graduation, 96 graduates will be gainfully employed by TMP and its local dealer network, while 11 will transition to the Specialized Toyota Automotive Training Program (STATP) and eventually be deployed to exclusive Toyota dealerships in Saudi Arabia. While these Filipino youth will soon fulfill the vision of the school founders, they will also become an integral part of the country’s local automotive industry, as well as become productive members of society.

Addressing the graduates, TMP Tech president Dr. David Go expressed, “This day signifies your readiness to take the next great step in fulfilling your goal of attaining a better future for yourselves and for your families while you perform your important role as nation-builders.”

For his part, TMP and TMP Tech vice chairman Alfred V. Ty challenged the graduates to become ambassadors of the Toyota Way, saying, “Remember that wherever you will be, you bear with you the name of Toyota. Hence, the values that Toyota has been known for such as Quality, Excellence, and Customer First, should be practiced at all times.”

TMP Tech has an advanced fast-track curriculum that optimally combined Toyota-specific courses and TESDA-required competencies. Further strengthening the students’ academic learning is the extensive on-the-job training at local Toyota dealerships, making their training come full circle, integrating both theory and hands-on practice.
