Pru Life UK expands financial literacy program
MANILA, Philippines - British insurer Pru Life UK recently signed agreements with Marie Ernestine School in Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu and Angeles University Foundation (AUF) in Angeles City, Pampanga for the implementation of the Cha-Ching Financial Literacy for the Youth Program for Grades 2 and 3 pupils starting this school year.
The new partnerships help further the implementation of money smart learning nationwide.
Marie Ernestine School is the 11th private school partner for Cha-Ching and the second in the Visayas region after pilot private school St. Paul College Foundation Inc. in Cebu City signed up for the program in November 2012.
The 12th Cha-Ching private school partner AUF is the first Catholic university and also the first private university in Central Luzon, dedicated to “Total Development of Man for God and Humanity.†The university also marks the second private school partnership for Cha-Ching in the Central Luzon region following pilot private school College of Immaculate Conception in Cabanatuan City.
Pru Life UK will provide all materials and assistance necessary for the full and effective implementation and integration of the Cha-Ching Financial Literacy for the Youth Program in the curriculum of both schools.
The materials include lesson plans, teacher training, cartoon musical edutainment episodes in DVD, student workbooks and other learning materials.
Cha-Ching is the first multi-country, multi-platform program that aims to help parents in Asia build money-smart values for children aged seven to 12 through introducing four money smarts – earn, save, spend and donate.
It was launched in Hong Kong in 2011 by Prudential Corp Asia (PCA), the regional headquarters of Pru Life UK.
The Philippines became the first country to integrate Cha-Ching in the grade school curriculum following the signing of a memorandum of agreement with the Department of Education (DepEd) in April 2012, piloting in Upper Bicutan Elementary School in the National Capital Region (NCR) and Tagaytay Central School in the Southern Tagalog Region for school year 2012-2013 through DepEd’s Adopt-A-School program. This year, DepEd is extending the implementation of Cha-Ching to academic year 2013-2014, expanding its coverage to 17 additional public schools in the National Capital Region, Northern and Southern Luzon,Visayas and Mindanao.
