MANILA, Philippines —  Low-cost carrier Cebu Pacific was selected by an aviation platform as the best airline in Asia for the second consecutive year in recognition of its fleet and network expansion.

At the 2025 Routes Asia Awards, Cebu Pacific won as the Best Airline for the second year in a row, marked by its aggressive drive to expand both its domestic and international reach.

In 2024, the basis for the judging, Cebu Pacific entered 28 new routes, composed of 19 domestic and 19 international services, made possible by the addition of new aircraft to its fleet.

In particular, Cebu Pacific last year mounted direct flights between Manila and Chiang Mai, and the carrier also reinstated its weekly services to Kaohsiung. The airline also launched in January its Manila connection to Sapporo to further widen its Asian coverage.

Cebu Pacific also strengthened its provincial presence by putting up hubs in Davao and Iloilo. It also raised flight volumes in Manila, Cebu and Clark where most of the demand is coming.

Moreover, the airline owned by the Gokongweis ended 2024 with a fleet of 98 aircraft, up by 13 from 2023, thanks to the delivery of new Airbus and ATR aircraft.

In 2024, Cebu Pacific also placed a $24-billion order with Airbus for the purchase of 152 jets, the largest aircraft procurement in Philippine aviation history.

Cebu Pacific signed the deal to safeguard its fleet for the long term, as it anticipates air travel to surge once public and private efforts to upgrade airports are done.

Cebu Pacific president and chief commercial officer Alexander Lao said the airline would build on its wins to sustain growth momentum. He underscored that the goal for Cebu Pacific remains the same: to make air travel accessible.

“This recognition reflects the strength of our network strategy and the partnerships that we have built with our airport partners and stakeholders. It is a meaningful reminder of our commitment to accessible air travel and expanding our presence across key markets in the region,” Lao said.

Based on the website of aviation platform Routes, the Best Airline Award celebrates the carrier that has generated economic growth for regions by providing them with air connectivity.

To date, Cebu Pacific operates the widest domestic coverage among Philippine carriers, reaching 37 local and 26 international destinations across Asia, Australia and the Middle East.
