MANILA, Philippines — Century Pacific Food Inc. (CNPF), the listed food and beverage company of the Po family, has expanded its portfolio of dairy products by making its foray into the chocolate malt segment.

Christopher Po, CNPF’s executive chairman said the dairy space has a lot of potential.

“Milk is a prime source of nutrition, yet the Philippines’ per capita consumption of milk is less than 10 percent than that of more developed countries,” Po said.

CNPF has launched Choco Hero, a choco malt milk drink for kids, with vitamins and minerals that “boost strength, mental alertness, and energy.” The product is available nationwide.

CNPF is one of the major players in the Philippine dairy market, playing in both beverage and culinary spaces. Its flagship brand is Birch Tree Fortified while Choco Hero is CNPF’s entry into the energy-boosting space as a choco malt milk drink.

Pyrus dela Cruz, CNPF’s vice president and general manager for milk, said accessibility is still one of the biggest challenges for this category, especially nowadays.

“Our consumers have been in this pandemic for two years. It’s imperative for key players to make dairy products more affordable.”

The launch of Choco Hero is the latest among CNPF’s recent string of innovations.

“Developing relevant innovations, especially for our emerging businesses, is central to our growth strategy. It is important that we build these new pillars to continuously diversify our revenue streams and, ultimately, future-proof our company,” Po said.

CNPF’s brands include Century Tuna, Argentina, 555, Angel, and Birch Tree, all hold market leading positions locally and are growing their presence abroad.

The company also operates as one of the Philippines’ leading providers of private label tuna and coconut products for export overseas.

It was founded by the late Ricardo Po Sr., a Forbes-listed billionaire.

The Po family also owns Shakey’s Pizza Asia Ventures Inc.
