PAL increases capacity of daily flights to Guam

Richmond Mercurio - The Philippine Star

CEBU, Philippines — Flag carrier Philippine Airlines (PAL) is boosting the capacity of its daily service between Manila and Guam to accommodate higher demand during the holiday season.

PAL said it would be increasing seat capacity of its Manila-Guam service by 15 percent by upgrading two of its seven weekly flights to the widebody Airbus A330-300 aircraft.

PAL will operate A330 flights from Dec. 15 to Jan. 13, 2020, every Sunday and Friday from Manila and every Monday and Saturday from Guam.

For the rest of the week, it will utilize the 199-seater narrow-body A321.

PAL said its 309-seater A330 aircraft would add 110 more seats per flight compared to the current 199-seater Airbus A321 for a total of 990 additional seats each way, or a total of 1,980 additional seats both ways, during the holiday period.

The A330 is also the carrier’s aircraft of choice for nonstop flights between Manila and Auckland, Sydney, Melbourne, Honolulu, Tokyo and Osaka.

“PAL’s A330 is among the most spacious widebody twinjets in the skies, as competitors cram as much as 436 seats into identically sized A330s versus the 309 seats in PAL’s premium version,” the carrier said.

PAL’s current fleet of 98 aircraft includes six Airbus A350-900 and 10 Boeing 777-300ER widebody jetliners for long-haul routes, 15 Airbus A330s for high-density Asia/Pacific, Australian and Middle Eastern routes, six A321neo longer-range versions, 24 A321 Classics, 19 A320s and 10 De Havilland Dash-8-400s, in addition to classic versions of the Q300/400.
