MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Science and Technology’s onestore.ph e-commerce portal has linked up with PayMaya, a leading mobile money and payment solutions app powered by PLDT’s Voyager Innovations.

DOST Secretary Fortunato dela Pena and PayMaya Philippines president Orlando Vea signed last week  a memorandum of understanding (MOU) for the entry of the PayMaya prepaid online payment solution to facilitate e-transactions on the onestore.ph mobile store.

Dela Pena said that the DOST is pursuing all possible programs and partnerships as it seeks to find more ways to help micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) improve their productivity and profitability, as well as competitiveness.

For his part, Vea said they are thankful to the DOST for taking them in as one of their partners for the onestore.ph program.

“We love this DOST partnership. Of course, being partners with DOST confers a certain validation of the technology that we offer,” Vea said.

“We think we can enable not only government, but the private sector in the payments processing space. We are now powering around 66 percent of of all online payments in the Philippines. When you buy on Lazada, when you ride Grab, when you buy Philippine Airline tickets, Cebu Pacific (tickets), anything online, we process 66 percent already,” Vea said.

“We have aside from, not only online, we also process face-to-face payments with our special terminals…we have a terminal, the only one in the Philippines that can process QR online payments,” he added.
